My 76 runs fine one minute and then it suddenly dies. It starts right up again and will run fine for awhile but then will suddenly die. When it does this its like someone pulled a plug, no stumbling, etc. Just dead. The tach will just drop and its dead. I checked the fuel system (eg, pump, regulator, pressure, etc) and everything seems fine. Therefore I'm moving on to the engine electrical systems. I read somewhere that a problem like this when the tach just drops is sometimes related to the ignition control module wich I'm working my way towards examining. But In the FSM on page EE34, sec 2.2 it gives a procedure for first checking the ignition coil. http://www.ni…

The LED topic is a recurring one -- here's a good comparison of headlight choices from Jalopnik: http://thegarage.jalopnik.com/should-you-swap-your-headlight-bulbs-for-leds-1728026383

I am trying to reassemble a 280Z (Dec77 build date) that I purchased with all the engine electricals and Fuel Injection removed and stored in boxes. I'm getting close. But now I have a mystery wire attached to the distributor. Its obviously a ground wire but I'm not sure of its function or what it was attached to. In the picture the mystery wire is attached to the bolt holding the distributor in and has a bullet connector on the far end after about 1 foot of wire. I think it ran from the distributor (as in the attached pix) to a condenser near the ignition coil. The 78 FSM EE section on page EE-26 shows a circuit running from the coil positive wire thru a condense…

In the middle of a full resto on a 77 280z and in the process of repairing the original wiring harness. Does anyone have the square, flat or round connections figured out? Are square ones for engine, flat for accessories etc...It looks like a method to the madness but I thought I would ask you experienced guys first. Anything will help! Flattop

Hello all, Anybody use the AC delco oil pressure sensor? I went thru a couple of the brass ones with no luck, my mechanic gave me an old 1600 sensor which worked great, but now its leaking - need to replace. Thanks, Ken

Where is the best place to pick up a 12v. switched source for electric fans & fuel pump. I was thinking at the of tapping off of the white/blue wire at the voltage reg. plug. Doing the MSA plug & alt. upgrade also. Diagram show this to be a 12v. switched circuit. Help greatly appreciated.

Can anyone tell me where these wires go from the dash to the front of the car? The plug connects on the passenger side under the dash. The red blue wire is cut. One is empty. On the connector under the dash the plug has red/blue, red/yellow. red, and green. The red wires go to the headlights I believe. Where do the other ones go?

Is there a flasher available or an electrical fix to make the turn signals flash faster. My turn signals flash in a fairly slow but steady rate. I was almost hit from behind the other day and I think a faster signal would be seen better. I have a stock '72 Z. Thanks, Charlie Oriental, NC

In my 71 I have LED lights for just about everything except headlights. I have LED cards in my taillights. Do you need resistors or is just a flasher enough. I have the Tridon electronic flashers. Should you use both the resistors and flashers? Are resistors used on cars with computers? Any info. Thank you very much. My cars not running so I don't know if the LED's hyper-blink or not.

Don't know if this is old hat or not, but I was doing some poking around with my fuse block and discovered that there are holes at the bottom designed to hold spare fuses. Might be different for other years, but mine is a 77. If you look along the bottom edge of the fuse block, there is a row of holes for the spares. Here's a pic showing a couple spares already in the holes and I'm inserting another into a still empty location:

Hi all I am having a strange problem. I installed ba9s led´s recently, like these: http://www.hidlightsusa.com/images/X5-BA9S-SMD-5W.jpg for my clock, voltmeter etc.. they work very well. I tried to do the same for the main illumination on the speed and tach gauges, but i got nothing. Reversing the polarity also didnt help. The old bulbs work immediately. the socket seems to be the same, but the led socket length is a tad longer. the socket itself is of the spring loaded type so that shouldnt be a problem. its a tight squeeze for my body under that dash, so troubleshooting is not easy Anyone experienced this?
