Since you can't get the original Yazaki connectors, I searched for some well-designed connectors/pigtails that are available today. SummitRacing lists some electrical harnesses and adapters, but no pigtails or connectors. The best connectors I found were WeatherPack connectors, which are sealed, interlocking, and made for different gauge wiring. I chose 12Ga., to handle the current for headlamps (20A total.) Weather Pack 3 Pin Sealed Connector Kit 12-10 GA If there are suitable alternatives, please mention them! BTW- Yazaki has a website: http://connectors-catalog.sys.yzk.co.jp/ but I didn't see anything familiar to S30 there.

I did the internally regulated alternator upgrade a little while ago, and everything is fine with the exception of one ignorable low priority issue. Such a small issue that I wouldn't consider it a "problem", but more of a "curiosity" and it highlights some (what I think is) interesting alternator trivia. Goes like this... Sometimes when I first start my car and the RPMs are (cold) low right after I start it, the alternator doesn't spin fast enough to snap into regulation. This is evidenced by the charge lamp being lit and the voltage indicated by the voltmeter. I can give it a little gas to pull the car out of the garage and just that little bit of RPM increase is eno…

Hi Guys! I need advice on my left rear turn signal diagnostic. The left rear turn signal quit working. All the bulbs are fine. The left front signal works fine. Both right turn signals front and rear work fine. ALL the hazards work including the left rear. BOTH rear brake lights work. HOWEVER, When the brakes are applied the left brake light goes out when the left turn signal is activated and there is no flashing signal. With the right turn signal activated and the brakes applied, the right signal flashes normally over riding the brake light. I read a couple of threads and my diagnosis is; - Turn Signal Flasher is ok - Hazard Flasher is ok - Brake over ride swit…

I got a set of hella H4 conversion headlamps, and I tried them to see how it fits. The H4 bulb goes in fine, then you put the rubber cover on, and when you try to put the lamp into the bucket, the rubber cover hits, so it doesn't fit. It will fit though, with the rubber cover off. Can you do anything besides leave the rubber cover off? I thought of putting a ring of dielectric grease around the bulb flange, so when you clamp it in, it should seal water out. Is there any other tips?

1976 280Z with Factory AC. Anyone else have a 280Z with factory AC that can tell me if this is normal or not? Temperature control lever does not have full range of motion. Stops well short of Full cold position and Full hot position. I've checked the cable that connects to the Thermostat control. Cable is free and not binding and Thermostat lever seems to be traveling it's full range. I'm wondering if the extra travel is designed in for use on non-AC cars that use a manual style water temp valve, instead of the Vacuum controlled valve?

Does anybody know what these wires are for? I didn't have them marked for some reason. I can't find the other half either. They came from engine bay area. The red with white stripe in the middle is a little bigger than the red with yellow stripe and the red with blue stripe wires. I don't see them on the wiring diagram. Thank you very much

I can't remember what this is for. Can't find it anywhere, books, etc. Don't have time to look real hard. Thanks. It's a toggle and has an on, off sign.

My 280Z was due for a roadworthy inspection so I was checking the lights and noticed the front indicators were not very bright. I never paid much attention to them before because I was planning to switch to 240Z lights when the 240z bumper and air dam were fitted. I still have not decided on the type of air dam yet so these turn signals will be around for a while. After dismantling them it was clear why they didn’t shine very bright. 1. The chrome reflector was so badly corroded. The chrome layer was falling of the metal plate and the metal plate was rusted. 2. The lens was covered in red and black over spray from the PO paint job. Considering the effort required I

I just refurbished an old breaker plate and took a picture of all of the pieces laid out in the order I took them off, in proper orientation, except for the bottom spring plate bearing holder, which is upside down and opposite the way it would go back on. But it's obvious how it fits when re-assembling unlike some of the other parts. I spent more time trying to get the circlip back in place than anything else. I'll devise some sort of jig before I try to put another one back together. Just posting for the record for those who get disoriented while taking it apart. I always do.

Does anyone have a nice wiring diagram for the '78 280Z headlamp circuit, showing the switched grounds? I had a "professional" install new headlamp connectors, and the dummy got the wires backward, like a new car has, with a common GROUND, Instead of the common hot wire and switched grounds. I'd like to show a good wiring diagram, showing the switched grounds... The diagram in the FSM is nicely drawn, but doesn't show the switched grounds, so you easily mistake that the headlamp switch is switching the +12V feeds.the complete wiring diagram I have is apparently too complicated. thxZ
