Besides Brands like Hella, Cibie, KC HiLites and Marchal, are there other brands that make good quality fog lamps and driving lamps? I am considering purchasing one or possibly both types of lamps. Are there any brands to avoid? Has anyone heard of "Vision X?"

This morning i decided to swap the ignitor installed on my 240z and after opening the distributor cap i notice something is missing, i guess it could be the ground wire,so i fabricated one with 2 terminals and installed a new pertronix ignitor model 1761 together with a 40511 new 3.0 ohms ignition coil. The car cranked up fine, but whenever you step on the gas the tachometer does not read correctly. Once it reaches to 5,000 RPM it jumps to 7000 goes back to zero, etc. If you have the car parked and step on the pedal it raises to 5,000 goes back to zero. Bottom line it is not Reading as it used to read with the former ignitor. What could be wrong here? Could i have mis…

A few months ago, I re-installed my dash after finding and fixing a short. The cars been running great with the exception of the right (passenger side) T/S. If I put the switch to the left, all is fine the left front/rear/dash lights flash at the normal speed but, if I put it on the right side, none of the lights flash and I only hear 1 click then nothing. I first rechecked the wires under the dash and the clamshell, it looks ok but I don't have a point of reference to compare it Does anyone have a suggestion so that I can narrow it down?? Thanks in advance!!

Sorry for the first post being a problem but i've been having difficulties with the ignition system on the car. From what i've read so far the system is wired up correctly and I purchased the car set up like this. Mallory Unilite 47639...? Petronix Flamethrower 3 ohm coil (New) Leads (New) Plugs (New) Battery voltage is running fine at >14v however i'm only seeing 6v at the coil? It's not helping that i've an overfuelling Edelbrock 1405 carb on there however the car was fine for 1000miles or so before starting to misfire after 10miles or so. Car is wired up with a ballast resister and condensor. Any ideas as to why i'm getting such low voltage…

Tomohawk asked in another thread about modules that might swap in to the 1978 280Z, from other models or brands of car. Here's one possibility - http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawiki/index.php?title=B-210_Electronic_Distributor_Swap I haven't figured out if the modules are the same in the cars listed or just other parts, but it's a start. Of course, most of these cars are just as hard to find in a junk yard as the 1978 280Z. That's the main problem, everybody only used the big box for a few years before everything got small. I used a 78 module in my 76 car for quite a while, by building a simple terminal panel to allow the wire ends of the 76 to be input to the …

Hello every one, Ive been trying to get my 260z to start up and what started as a fuel issue is now at an electrical issue. The problem I am having is that there is no spark, I bought a brand new ignition coil and set it up but I'm trying to figure out why the two little screws on the side where the wires are connected have power but the ignition coil is not sending any power to the distributor, could it be a faulty ignition coil or am I looking at something else? I ordered another ignition coil since it had a warranty so while I wait for that one to come in I'm trying to find all possible situations that may be causing such problem so I can finally start her up Al…

I thought it was just to supress radio emissions but it is actually part of a tuned circuit to improve spark and to minimize current damage to coil, breaker points or transistors.

Yesterday i managed to build a jumper i wire with terminals and connect it through the Ballast Resistor in order to remove it from the circuit as advised. However, before doing this modification, i measured the voltage accross the Petronix 3 ohm on my 240z and it measured between 3.8 to 4 volts DC with the engine on. Is this normal?? Could the Coil be damaged or weak and needs replacement? I measured the Battery Voltage with the car at idle and its 14 Volts DC If the voltage is weak which model is recomendable?

I recently removed my horns to remove some overspray and noticed a few things. Firstly they are the olive drab color, which I was expecting as this a 1970 car. Here's a pic during the cleaning process. When I started to wire brush the backs of the horns I noticed that the decibel rating was 110dB, not the 115dB rating I have seen in pictures. Here are pictures of the backs. I have read posts talking about later horns being black in color and I was wondering if this was when the change to 115dB was made. I have a horn from a 12/70 parts car that has a horn date code of T11 (1970 November) and it has a rating of 115dB, this horn has so much paint on it I can't tel…

Higuys, I'm working on something new, which includes new tail lamps, and the lamps seem to have european bulb sockets. The brakes looked like they use an 1157 bulb (dual-filament bayonet base) but the bayonet pins are not offset, so none of the bulbs I have will fit. Is there a conversion list for the bulbs from American ( like 1156, 1157, etc.) so I can see if the AP store has them? If you go there and tell them is for a Zed, they will just show you the usual SAE bulbs, like the 1157, which is what I don't need. Specifically, I need bulbs for the rear turn signals (1156 amber,) the brakes (1157 red) and front turn signals (1157 amber) but they will need to be t…

3 ball bearings I've found so far. It's a junkyard ZX E12-80. Should I drive it until I get a remanufactured one? Thanks, Cliff
