Car: 72 240Z; build date 5/72 This car was a real mess when I got it. I labeled all the existing connections when I took it apart and can get those back together just fine. Others that should have been there are not. For example, the Defrost switch/Fasten Seat Belts/Choke harness is missing from the little panel in the console. I have identified the two connectors that went to this panel. I still have 5 connectors in the center instrument panel harness that I can't identify and don't seem to agree with either a 72 or 73 FSM electrical diagram. Connector 1 is part of the heating harness. Two pin female with colors Red, Blue/White. Connector 2 is taped to the same …

Wonder if Dave's parking light harness would assist getting current to the turn signals. Right front TS is still out, suspect corrosion in the electrical part of the switch, the little white plastic thing. I took one apart before, would rather not do it again since it's sort of fragile. Already cleaned the contacts in the stock harness, the parking light sockets, and the hazard switch. The parking lights, hazard lights and the other turn signals are all OK. Getting voltage for that TS but not enough current. It's a '73, built 9/72. Already have the headlight harness upgrade. Oh, wait a minute. If it was corrosion in that electrical switch wouldn't it also affect the righ…

As birthday present to myself, I had the MSA Alternator upgrade ($120) installed a NissTech in Charlotte. While I was at it, I had them do the headlight relay ($148), parking light relay ($120) and marker light conversion ($57) upgrades as well. I had the parts laying around and I could have done all this myself, but I don't have much time off lately. I highly recommend the alternator upgrade if nothing else. All the lights are brighter and the wipers have been raised from the dead. The ignition has to be getting more spark, which is a very good thing. The guys at NissTech are good to go - both partners are experienced Datsun techs and their shop is the regional resou…

Realized that we were about to put a serious hijacking on to Eurodat's thread here - http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/electrical-s30/52621-fitting-hei-module-transistor-ignition-unit-1977-280z.html#post459983 Started this new one. Here's a link to a post showing the reluctor output from an 85 and an 88 Jaguar, which apparently used the GM HEI module in their ignition system. Looks similar to CO's Post #15 (to my eyes) in Eurodat's thread. Sean's Jaguar Tech Pages - Lucas Digital P (HEI-based) Ignition Diagnosis

New to the world of Datsun/Nissan. I'm working on a 1977 280Z. Currently having an issue with spark. No spark to the spark plugs. I have read through the FSM/EFI Bible. The coil has been replaced (then swapped back to stock unit only 35k miles), ECU has been replaced, battery has been replaced. Fusable links have been replaced and all get spark on both ends. Headlights work. Checked fuse panel under passenger kick - none blown. Cleaned all electrical connections and grounds with C&C. I am getting spark from the ballast resistor and to the + and - on the coil with ignition on. Have not tested while cranking. Engine cranks no problem, fuel gets to the inject…

Hello all, I have dug through the old threads but cant seem to find anything that addresses testing the combination (dimmer) switch for the headlights on my '78 280z. I have narrowed down the problem to the switch, I think. Bulbs are good, fuses are good, continuity of circuit from the switch to the bulbs is good, even the ground return path (red with black stripe for low beam return path, red with white stripe for high beam return path). The headlight switch shown in in the picture has a white wire with red stripe that feeds constant power from the positive terminal of the battery (through fusible links first). When the dimmer switch for the headlights is in the high b…

Good evening everybody Im a new member posting from Oman (near Dubai).. I've been refurbishing my 280z model 77 but when I crancked the engine I came 2 know that It is no longer serviceble!! I have everything hooked up, but have no power to the injectors. I checked my fuses, fine. Checked the pump via external power, fine. I checked the wires going back to the fuel pump, no juice. I did a continuity check, no power. I did a check on amost every wire I could trace. Nothing!! When I tried to give power to the injectors directly from an external power, they worked and the car worked for almost 2seconds but I know this way is not proper.. Im assuming that the Fuel pump r…

I have fixed and tested the clock in my 240z with a 9 volt battery and some alligator clips. Everything Works fine but i am still thinking on sending it to Ron for a quartz movement upgrade. How do i test and verify the ahmeter/ fuel gauge and the Temperature / oil gauge with a 9 volt battery after opening it and cleaning the inside? I just want to be sure before i install them in the car. Anyone???

I want to swap the original lightbulbs on my 240z with LEDS. Which model will be ideal to obtain the brightest result and definition? I want to keep the original stock look but with more brightness on all the gauges. Will this one work for all the gauges? 1972 Nissan 240z Instrument LED Lights | LED Replacement Bulbs for Cars | 12v | Super Bright LEDs | Super Bright LEDs Later on i would like to accomplish the same with the rest of the car lights.

http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/30mmFuseLED Hey guys, found this site. There may be others, but they sell bulbs that will fit our old lamps and convert them to LED. I think that's pretty cool. Has anyone tried these? Imagine turning your map light and room light to LED.
