Can someone send me a picture of how the battery is secured originally? Also, if someone has modified how their battery is secured, I would like to get ideas. Thanks :-)

It should be NO MORE than 35 amps................. does anyone know what alternator may bolt up to the z? i understand that aftermarket companies supply upgraded alternators - however they are all way to large. i do NOT need 90 amps or anything even close. it should be a small one like this; mini alternator

Guy's - I'm now at the point where I'm thinking twice about taking the Z out in fear that I may not be able to get it started again once I reach my destination. The problem is a a worn ignition barrel - I had a spare set of key's made up which did not see the orig template (copies of copies) that has probably accelerated the wear. Any idea's where I may be able to purchase new keys & ignition barrel ? thanks in advance.

Hi, Does anyone have thoughts on or knowledge of fitting electronic ignition on a (72) 240Z Automatic with Cali' emission control. I found this thread (shown below) from 3 years ago which tells me that switching from dual points to EI using a unit from the 280ZX is possible but will having emission control cause an issue? http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/electrical-s30/38049-duel-points.html I'm trying to cure a mis-fire. When the car came from the US, it had some US fuel in it and ran smoothly. I put in some UK 95 Octane fuel which I think converts to 91 RON and soon after it began to mis-fire. I've put in some premium unleaded, 99 Octane, but no improvement. It h…

Greetings, Hope everyone had a chance to run around in their Z this Labor Day weekend! I didn't;( The fusebox in my 1972 240Z decided to part ways 50 miles from home last week. It appears as if the wiper circuit (Accessory) overheated, melted, and shorted into the flasher (Ignition) circuit causing a quick end to the outing. (Not to mention the ignominy of having it hoisted high onto a flat bed like a vanquished enemy and delivered home. The shame, the shame...) I've already ordered the upgraded box from MSA and should be able to get to it later this week. No fuse blew during the meltdown, in fact, I wasn't using the wipers, and haven't in months, which makes me susp…

I've recently had issues with my 77' 280z not charging and stalling and dying while I drove it. I just got a new battery from oreilly so I figured it was the alternator and I also figured this would be a good opportunity to do the ZX alternator upgrade. Bought a refurbished ZX alternator and followed the write up to the letter. But when I tried to connect the negative cable back to the battery one of the fusible links fried. After the fusible link finally stopped I decided to try and start the car anyways. It started up and ran kinda rough, but it ran. Downside is the turn signals, parking lights an hazards don't work. The headlights do work and now when I drive it the…

Guy's Running 260z with MSD 6AL. Notice that when I turn the main headlights on idle rpm drops noticeably(300~ 400rpm). Running a stock alternator. Any one had a similar experience ? Eitherway was looking to upgrade Alternator anyway - what are the popular choices ? Thanks for your help.

Hello, I have a 73 240 (with elec fuel pump factory installed) and purchased an MSA alternator adapter plug last year. Just getting around to installing this with a ZX alternator (internally regulated) and I have read multiple posts about the fuel pump relay being energized and draining the battery (just on the 73 with the factory fuel pump relay). After searches, I could not find any specifics of what is needed to correct battery drain. I have read that you need to wire a relay in, but again no specifics. If anyone out there has the details, It would make a great writeup (color codes on wires/pics/etc.) I would sure appreciate any info you guys have. Thanks

Electronic Fan Controller 70 Amp This is the electric fan controller I just picked up, it has a 70amp relay and they are recommending a 70amp fuse for the main power wire, now from what I understand the 70 amp relay is to handle the momentary power surge it take to get the fan going and up to speed but a 70amp fuse doesn't sound like it is going to protect much. Aren't wires going to melt before a 70amp fuse blows? Thanks, Chris

Hi guys, I recently had the rear driver side brake light issue, I fixed this by opening the turning light switch and cleaning the contacts. Since then, my driver side brake light is not working anymore....the passenger side brake light is working as it should but nothing on the driver side... Hazard lights are working perfectly too. Could you please tell me what to do ? Thanks in advance! Greg, from Brussels, Europe (us model 1971 z)
