Datsun Spirit owner Eiji Hosomi paid me a nice compliment yesterday at the ZCON judged car show. I was grabbing some much needed shade and rest after the first round of judging (my inaugural participation) and Eiji came up and asked if he could ask some questions about my restoration. He's had a lot of problems with the aftermarket door seals and wanted to know how I handled it. I told him about Kia Sportage seals - either new or from salvage, and you should have seen his eyes when he operated the doors and found them closing so smoothly. What we're your thoughts on ZCon? Think my experience was heavily soured by not getting my Z done on time. Took out my frustrations at the track event with my Mercedes CL55 until the left front wheel went off into the brush. The track event was fantastic as was my instructor and his amazing Robello powered 240Z. I got a ride along in his Z which was a extremely generous. Did my first autocross event as well and learned a lot even though I sucked. After that, we were left in the Circuit of America's parking lot to bake in the sun for 2 1/2 hours only to get turn 1 to turn 19 on the track and another 30 minutes in the paddock area (at least that had shade). There is a tres cool GTR too from the Nissan collection. We will gear the GR8 tomorrow and it will be on the track later in the week! One lucky guy paid $1200 to run in it. This one has triple Webers!

There will be at least a couple of Datsuns running around Laguna Seca this year for the Monterey Historics. Glenn Chiou and Randy Jaffe both had cars accepted. John Morton will be driving Randy's car. Okay Bay Area guys, there are no excuses. We expect photos and videos.

Saw this posted at Hybridz and thought I would share: On march 10th Adam Carolla is putting a seminar with racers and teams from back in the days of racing Datsuns, this panel is to include Pete Brock, John Morton, Sam Posey, and Chip Robinson. The following day Saturday the 11th, the Cars and Coffee event will be held with a big emphasis on Japanese cars, my 5510 has been invited as well as several of my other friends Datsun Z's. Austin, Sounds good. Lot's of great roads with in reasonable distance and really high speed limits... @Mike W My wife is from Fredericksburg so we should make it. She suggested a road route out that way through the hill country. A number of vineyards out that way too...

I know Blue started a ZCON 2016 thread almost a year ago but its time to get a fresh nose count on who is going to join the festivities in Toronto 3 months from now. About a dozen or more members of this forum were able to shake hands, share stories, and enjoy some great fellowship in Memphis last year; we need to begin planning for the same (or better) get-together in Toronto. Hi, ClassicZCars community. Our 21st annual Z-Car show has a new date and location. It’s Saturday, May 14th at Anaheim Stadium. We chose a different date so as not to conflict with other shows, and a larger space to accommodate more cars. In addition to Z-Cars from 1970 to 2016, we’re also inviting Nissan Skylines, GTRs, 510's, and Roadsters. Best of all, entering one or more in the show is free. This is a “thank you” to the Z community for all your support over the years. We have a weekend of special events planned. More information will be posted soon.
