Is there anyone in the South Carolina area interested in road racing. I have a 1977 280z that I race in the 24 hours of Lemons series and I am looking for a couple of team mates to join me. If interested let me know I will provide more info then.

Greg Ira places 2nd again in the SCCA Runoffs E-Production class. He drove well but just couldn't pull it off. Sunday is the last day of races and can be seen on speedcasttv.com. BTW we took the regional championship out here on the left coast with a perfect 10 for 10, but the other day, the engine grenaded while testing at Reno. Four pieces of the motor chipped the windshield of the car I had passed. Later he walked the track and found the #2 rod in the esses. Can you say cha-ching $$$.

I have no idea what to think about this. It just showed up in the auto magazine on Flipboard.

The Vintage Grand Prix at Mid Ohio is coming up on June 27 - 29. Is anyone going? I have a room with ample accommodations all to myself for the entire weekend. It could be of benefit to someone. The SVRA has the event scheduled for June 26 - 29, so I don't know what is happening on that Thursday. I might even go down on Thursday to see what is happening; I suppose just trucks, trailers, and RVs arriving to set up in the paddock. It could be interesting. Our Mr. Fred Sigarto is an SCCA race official, and says he'll be there as a Marshall, probably.

I have read a few GRs from some vintage organizations, et al, and when they refer to competition, this is mentioned, and the requirement seems confusing. We use coolant that has anti-freeze/coolant all year long, and it provides good cooling on warm days, but if you go to one of these places, what would you do? I think water by itself would be a disadvantage in terms of cooling efficiency. Should you just drain the antifreeze and add water before you leave home (unless you have a team trailer and a supply of water?) If you just drain the cooling system, there will still be small amounts of antifreeze in the mix; would they allow that? It's probably a lot better t…

There were 4 Zds at this year's Bathurst Motor Festival. Bathurst is arguably Australia's most challenging motor racing circuit located on Mount Panorama a few hours west of Sydney. Peter H and I made the four day transcontinental trip trailering our Zds from Perth. All four Zds competed in the regularity events (essentially up against pre-nominated times but in reality attempting to post the best time possible). Attached is in car footage of my highlights from the 3 days on the track and some photos from the weekend.

The last time (2012) I think a Danish club went there and had a live video feed the whole weekend. I'd like to see it again this year, if there is one. Le Mans Classic : index

In stead of spending a million to get to Sebring or someplace like that, you could just get a bunch of friends together and go at it yourself for the next 24 hours. I'll bet you the police will think it looks odd, seeing the same dozen cars going by every 20 minutes, in the same direction. Here is the idea: You plan out a looping course in your area, using the local freeways and highways, from say, 5 to 12 miles (the Circuit de La Sarthe is about 8 miles) and you get some scorekeepers to keep count. Maybe you need scorekeepers in two places, so people can't cut the course. You could also setup basic rules, like you need 3 or 4 drivers on a team, and a driver can be …

Has anyone watched the new 4-wide style of drag racing? I'll bet it looks kind of spectacular, with all 4 vehicles going at once, but I am skeptical on this concept. I read that a number of NHRA drivers sent an official letter out to critique this style of racing. They thought it was dangerous to have 4 cars going at once, it detracts from the closeness of 2-wide racing, the traffic in the staging lanes is "like a circus" and the sponsors don't get noticed as well. I tend to agree with all that. Just imagine if one car got sideways and jumped the center wall. It could possibly take out the other three cars in one heat! I was looking for the rules governing the 4-wide…
