Thought I'd liven up the forum a bit. Kinda crappy footage though, I need to tint the windshield portion of the camera lens as it's overexposed. You may still find it entertaining.

Classic Z folks, This is just a note to invite anyone that is near the VIR racetrack to come out next weekend, April 15-17. There will be a lot of great racing and we'll have our E Production 240z. We have stiff competition in the powerful BMW of Sam Moore and the Lotus/Caterham of Kevin Leigh. We are also debuting our new Quaiffe Rocket gearbox, so here comes left foot braking and no clutch!! Call or email if you'd like to get in free on my team. Hope to see you there. Greg Ira

Mandatory Z content: No Z's in this kind of racing, but............ Has anyone seen the Australian V8 Super Car, and British Touring Car racing on Speed TV this winter? Wow, I have seen some great racing in these two series in the past few weeks. I'm not sure how old the races are (2002 season for sure, but what month(s) they actually raced, I don't know) but they have some great close racing going on in these series. If you'all have a spare hour or so to kill what with NASCAR, CART, and IRL hibernating, do yourself a favor and check it out. Carl

OK - Now is the time to start working on my 240z suspension since I got a base line on my car this weekend at WSIR. Shocks are the first to be replaced, from reading here it seems there are early struts and late model. I already have the coil over kits installed and camber adjusters with some blown Tokico :tapemouth Illumina shocks and want to go with a better shock setup. Which from reading sounds about right with the spring setup - 250 /F & 275 /R I haven't pulled these apart yet so I don't know which struts I have nor do I know how to tell the difference yet. There is a diameter difference from what I understand. Any help there would be appreciated! I know Ma…

I just posted some pictures in my gallery of home made adjustable, solid (no rubber/urethane), tension/compression rods for use with stock lower control arms. These can be duplicated by anyone with time to source the British (MOWOG) "hip-jpoints". This modification was standard practice by the CP racers of the 70's. It allows adjustment of caster on lowered cars without trying to tweak camber plates to a position they were not intended to go. You will of course be eliminating rubber/urethane donuts at chassis so the ride will be harsher. But the caster and toe-out will not change under heavy braking/hard cornering which is a big plus.

from some sources, I've gathererd these types, or classes of racing you could do in a Z. Thes first types are kinds of rally racing: Gimmick rallies - usually pretty low key events, paved roads, relaxed speeds, easy navigation TSD Tour Rallies - (time-speed-distance) 2 -12 hours long, legal speeds, mostly paved roads TSD Trap Rallies - 2 - 6 hours long, legal speeds, paved or paved and unpaved Performance or Brisk TSDs - 3-12 hours long, brisk but legal speeds, paved and unpaved roads Rallycross - in North America this is an autocross on an unpaved surface SCCA ClubRally - 4-8 hours legal speeds on transit sections, all-out speed on closed off stages SCCA ProRally - 1-2 …

OK, first, let's just get this out of the way: Everyone repeat after me. "If you don't want to spend the money, you have no business racing." Right. I don't want to spend four figures on suspension if I can avoid it. I'd like to find a way to get springs in the 400-350 pound range and stay with the stock struts and mounts. By playing with the spring rate calculator at http://www.proshocks.com/calcs/coilsprate.htm, it seems that I only need slightly thicker springs. 0.637" in the front would give me 400# and 0.618 in the rear would give me 350#. Compare that to the stock spring thicknesses of about 0.417" and 0.448" Great. Actually, if you got springs of about the same le…

I shot the National at RA this past weekend. There was a low turnout due to Easter & I only attended Sunday. Greg Ira debuted a new paint scheme & bodywork on his E Prod 240Z. He blew a motor in Sat. qualifying and had to run to Jacksonville FL to pick up a new one. Worked all night & made the race. Finished a strong 2nd place to a Lotus 7 even though he only got a few laps on Sat. Norton in the Lotus set a track record at 1:35.420. Greg ran a 1:35.733 with little track time. He should be strong at the VIR Double in April.
