RACING

Gentlemen, start your engines!  This is the place to talk about Z car racing!

I have this big brake set up on one of my race cars. This is the first time I have tried this before on a race car. Here is my problem. Something up there is flexing enough to cause the pedal to be very long in between using the brakes. As Long as I am going straight, the issue doesn't come up, great pedal. If I swerve as to warm up the tires, pedal to the floor. Everything up there is tight. Anyone run into this before? Someone told me they have heard of this and spindle is flexing. Wow! Greg Ira

Rest in Peace Dan Weldon, it was a heck of a ride!

  3. I was reading the post about a computer game (http://www.240z.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=13783#post13783) which referred to a site in denmark? (.de) www.nissan-szene.com, anyway I used google to translate the site and found a downloads page with lots of video. The last one on the list was datsun-power.zip (about 1.5 meg) so I took a look at it. It's a video of a Black 240z driving insanely! You gotta watch this. http://www.nissan-szene.de/cgi-bin/download/download.pl?file=datsun-power.zip its a .wmv file Mr C

Just got my Kirkey Ultimate Road Race Seat today. Here's some pics of the excellent quality throughout... Back detail. Some billet machined aluminum and the rest is punched/beveled aluminum sheet for extra strength. Very comfortable! Side with lower mountings. All billet machined aluminum. My Jr. road racer -- 4 1/2 years old -- (can't get too mad at him for his choice of drivers)

What a race ! I arrived on a rainy Sunday morning on top of the hills just above Clermont-Ferrand. The city was there, somewhere under the clouds, I could almost ear the noise of the Michelin headquarter and factory. But I was there for something else, of greater importance. One of my friend and fellow club member was racing his genuine ex-Nissan work car in the 6 hours of Charrade. The race belong to the French historical vehicle competition championship, and my friend attend all the races he can. Close competition to the little red devil, from Porsches (lots) to Lolas and Ford GT40. Like usual, the big engines went on to run their race ahead of the pack, but at the end…

In an effort boost the number of GT3 entries, the SCCA competition board has agreed to move the Z over from GT2. More appropriately, the rules have been written to encourage the older uni-body cars to come out of mothballs. The requirements are a minimum weight of 2200 lbs (w/driver), 15x7 wheels (w/cantilever slicks), GT2 spec L28, and the only draw back, a 35mm SIR (single inlet restrictor). The current EP Z-cars would be right at home with an L28 transplant; they're already on the same wheels and rubber. The inlet restrictor would be one area where some creative engineering would probably pay off. As little effort would be required in my case, I’m seriously consi…

If you have converted to 4 wheel disc brakes, I have found an amazing brake pad combination for road course driving/racing. Raybestos ST-41's up front and ST-42's in the rear. The car bites hard when just touching the brake and I was unable to get the slightes fade during my 4 - 25min NASA HPDE3 sessions at Sebring last weekend. These pads completely blow away the Carbotech XP-8 pads I was previously using. The Ray's are even responsive cold! @_@ If you are using a common caliper (i.e., Willwood Dynalites) you can order the pads online, otherwise you can trace the backing plate of your current pads and send it in for a custom grind. I got mine at speedtoys.biz but there …
