Hi All, Last weekend, the Navy hosted a vintage race, the HMSA Coronado Speed Festival at Coronado Island as part of the 100th Anniversary of the Navy Air Corps and Coronado Island Naval Base. Steve Cook (BRE 240Z) and me (Anheuser Busch Z) were entered in Group 6, production cars over 2.5L. Here's a video of the Friday practice session.... Enjoy! Bob ps, Gary and I have cool in-car video, so if i figure out how to upload... if you like Z's racing with the "big boys", on a small airport track, it's cool!

Higuys, A few months ago, I picked up up a cool app for my Android tablet and I've used it a few times so far for driving on the track at Mid Ohio. It's called aLapRecorder. www.adyno.net First of all, the all the app can record HD video of the road ahead, if you mount your device so the camera can view the road. It uses the GPS receiver to record location data, and the app calculates your speed, and displays that on the screen in some small gauge-like "dials." It will also display G forces from the device's accelerometer, and if you have an OBDII engine ECU, using a Bluetooth interface, you can also display engine RPM, trottle position, vacuum, Load/HP, torque, a…

http://www.nissan-motorsports.com/ENN/ Its all cool until you get to the History section. No mention of the US National Championship wins from 1969 through 1980. I can understand that because those efforts were supported by Nissan Motorsports USA and Nissan Marketing USA with very little help from Nissan Motorsports Japan. But then they take credit for the IMSA GTP Championship win in 1988. Now I call bull****. Those efforts were supported by budget from Nissan marketing USA through a corporation they created called Nissan Performance Technologies, Inc. (the old Electramotive). Nissan Motorsports USA also used what little they had of their budget to help develop some …

Classic Z'ers, Firstly, congrats to John Thomas for smoking everyone again, and to all the other Z drivers at the solo championships. As usual, I want to invite anyone interested in the best road racing america has to offer, to come visit us and our team at Road America. We will be competing in E production for the national championship against a large field of which there are probably ten different drivers that can win. We will be up there from September 16-25. If anyone wants to come out, just let me know. Thanks, Greg Ira

It's a little late to announce the event, but some of us Ohioans (from the Cleveland Z Club and the Columbus Z Club) were at the event. It was the Rolex Grand-Am championship weekend. Nissan Motorsports was there as a major manufacturer. They had one big tent (the "Chalet") on 'Championship row' and a big setup at the manufacturers midway, showing off the 370Z and the new LEAF, as well as Paul Newman's Nissan IMSA GTP car and the new PS3 GT video game. The winner of last year's video challenge was there, as a driver. Continental Tire was there showing off tire technology and their lovely models. There was an opportunity to do a few parade laps (the pace car driver…

A while back one of our UK friends chimed into another thread with a note about the historic British Z known as "Big Sam". I think he was the current owner of the car..or at least someone very well acquainted with the car. Who was that person? Is there more information at this site on "Big Sam?" (I've searched, but there's not much) I'm interested in finding out more about its technical spec... please help!

Hi All, I'm new to this forum. I recently finished the restoration of a 1973 240Z IMSA GTU car. The car was raced in IMSA with several different liveries from 1977 - 1979, but I chose the Anheuser Busch Natural Light configuration as raced in 1978 and 1979. The car was part of the initial Anheuser Busch sponsorship of auto racing in 1978. The other cars in the Anheuser Busch stable were the famous 240Z Budweiser cars of Paul Newman and Sam Posey, the Budweiser Indy car driven by Pancho Carter and this car, initially driven by James Brolin. The Budweiser cars were supposed to win championships, the Anhueser Busch car was to introduce Natural Light and sell beer! I'v…

I am in the process of building a 1971 240Z that will be used mostly on the track but also see some limited street use. Track use will consist of track days and high performance driving events. No wheel to wheel racing. I have come to the point where I need to make decisions about safety equipment. I have no experience with safety equipment so I'm looking for some advice on seats and roll protection. I'm trying to decide which seat to go with. There are seemingly lots of options but some are much more expensive than others. I am 6'3" and with a helmet my head hits the roof with stock seats so I'm looking to get the seat as close to the floor as possible. I assume t…
