I was at the 2009 Mid Ohio Vintage Grand Prix this year and I got to see a couple S30s on qualifying day. It looks like one didn't make it to race day, but the other, a 1970 Datsun 240Z (2.8L) took 4th (SVRA Group 8 ) thxZ

Along with the 280ZXTT the SCCA 300ZX (SSA class) driven by Tom Cruise will be at the convention in Nashville. The 280ZXTT will be out at Mid-Ohio doing a few parade laps at the SVRA vintage races June 25-27 with Nissan/Datsun being the featured marque. Both these two cars and the BSR/Newman 300ZXT are being sold at auction with all proceeds going to charity. Got a few hundred thou? Get the ZXTT before it hits the auction block....

I recently sold a Factory Five Cobra replica which was pretty competitive in XP, (2300lbs and 471rwhp, 800 and 1000lb springs F/R) and I want to build a Z for Autocross and mild track work (HDPE) and hill climbs. I'm currently thinking a LS2 with a wide-body kit, stripped interior and cage. I don't plan on serious competition, so absolute adherence to the SCCA rulebook is not required. The groups I intend to run with aren't that retentive. From some research here, it's obvious there's some very experienced and knowledgeable folks. I'm open to ideas and advice. I'm in the early research phase. Purchases are a year or so off. Thanks in advance for the help and advice…

This was my fastest run of the day. It was good enough for 2nd place in the Novice class. Still have a lot of work to do, but its getting there.

We had an endurance race this past weekend (LeMons) and our 180 diff was running hot and failed. We switch another 180 in it's place and within 20 laps was getting hot and starting whining. We where using Red Line MTL 70W80 oil. Is this oil to light for racing? We also have dropped driver’s floor ~3 inches and installed a front spoiler, would this block enough air to make it get hot? We have another race in a couple of months and are scratching our heads. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Julius

Guys we just got back from Spring Mountain Motorsports Park, with a few fun cars. Expect an article in Road & Track in September, it should be a good one. Here is a little video teaser:

I recently bought an MSA Urethane Air Dam for my '72 ITS 240-Z to replace the custom spoiler that I cracked last year. Is anyone running ducting from the MSA air dam back to their rotors? If so, what did you attach to the back of the air dam? Thanks...Robert

I have this big brake set up on one of my race cars. This is the first time I have tried this before on a race car. Here is my problem. Something up there is flexing enough to cause the pedal to be very long in between using the brakes. As Long as I am going straight, the issue doesn't come up, great pedal. If I swerve as to warm up the tires, pedal to the floor. Everything up there is tight. Anyone run into this before? Someone told me they have heard of this and spindle is flexing. Wow! Greg Ira
