I bought an old gtu car that raced in the late 70's. The car went from gtu to trans-am to gt-2. I'm going to restore the car as much as possible to when it raced as a gtu car. The car came withlog books and little other information. I crewed on the car when it raced in the northwest. The interior of the car, other than the tach, has not been alterred. Thanks Terry

Congrats to member Greg Ira for winning the E Prod race in his 240Z. It is Greg's first time to Road America and I know he is looking forward to the Runoffs held there in Sept. On a sad note past champ Tom Thrash died in morning qualifying in his E Prod RX7. He would have started from the pole. It sounds like he may have had a stroke or heart attack or mechanical failure before crashing his car. Our thoughts go out to Tom and his family. http://www.scca.com/documents/resultfiles/Grp4-PrvRace3.pdf

As of right now it could be an all Z podium June 27-28 at the SCCA double SARRC at Nashville Superspeedway. 2 240's and 1 280Z are entered. Come on out and watch some close racing at a great facility. Last year Z cars took 1st and second on Saturday and 1st on Sunday. More info at: http://www.rivergate5speed.com/scca/race/nashville.html Great fun at the Heart of Dixie double SARRC!

I hear a lot about Group 1 or Group 8, etc., but I can't find any classification rules. Oops- It's not SCCA, It's VARA or VSCR. It's a vintage classification. Here is a link thxZ

Anyone have performance information on the 1973 Championship Datsun 240Z of Bob Sharp? What kind of horsepower and torque did this race car put out? Anyone have a dyno sheet of a 1973 SCCA 240Z racing motor? Thank you..... Jim Pennington

I am looking for photos, race stats and etc. on the 1973 SCCA Road Race of Champions. I am interested in that race because of the close battle between the 240Z of Bob Sharp and Gary Rodriguez #88 in a Lotus Europa. Bob won that race by .2 seconds. Gary, in the Lotus, set the fastest race lap. Bob Sharp qualified on the pole with the Lotus in second place. Logan Blackburn and Jim Fitzgerald drove 240Z cars. The race also had Bob Tullius in a TR6 but he DNF. Please send any information on the race containing the #88 Lotus Europa to: jpenn35633@yahoo.com I also have a tape of the 1980 runoffs when the jaguar won the race. Thanks, Jim Pennington

A new amateur road course for colorado is getting close. The county planning board must have approved the zoning change to allow amateur motorsports. Now the commissioners will put their rubber stamp to allow the change. Once that happens the fund raising campaign will begin. News release from Colorado Amateur Motorsports Associates. http://www.coloradoscca.org/HighPlains_PressRelease.pdf

Greg won the first EP race at VIR from the pole. He looked to repeat it on Sunday and took the lead at the start and set a new track record in EP of 2:06.3 on lap 3. A broken stub axle put him out on the next lap. Here are some pics from the weekend.

Is there a standard size for the round or oval racing sheild, to go on the door or bonnet? It would be better to stick your vinyl numbers to a magnetic sheild instead of the paint, and have to repaint the car after the numbers pull your paint off. thxZ
