I recently bought Doug Piners EP 240z and am going racing! I am looking for any old picts of the car both in blue and yellow paint scheme Doug did not have any I have found a few out there but am trying to build an album of the car for posterity. It was the blue or yellow num 00 car (still blue but now num 08). Also if anyone has picts of the car when it was an ITS car (I think it ran if FL mostly as no 08). Thanks

I took my vintage 240Z to Summit Point last weekend to a SCCA race to run in EP. Here's some in car video of the first few laps so you can get a feel for going around Summit. Finished 2nd in EP. FYI I have both Datsun and Nissan logos just to cover everything.

This car was at the SVRA 12 Hour Sebring event. I didn't meet the owner. Is he here? Is anyone familiar with the car? I noticed the HSR and NASA stickers on the car.

Greetings, Noble Z Car Brethren! Sound the village bells! After 7 long years painted like a watermelon, my team's 260Z gets a beautiful new paint job in team colors with GT racing stripes. Take a last look at my car's pics cause it'll soon be a blazing white and blue speed machine. And you can see the last race as a watermelon here... scroll down to "Hallett Feature." http://sopwithmotorsports.com/multimedia.html And what of the engine? Glad you asked! A totally wicked new motor is on the way, allegedly before my next race on April 26th (and they bloody well better make it!). Woo hoo! No more getting trounced on the straightaways and catching up in the next corner…

Anyone out there want our take offs for a nominal price, please let me know. We use the Goodyear Sportscar Special on a 15x7 wheel. It has a huge contact patch. AND we use the DOT spec tire from Hoosier, the R6 in a 225/45. The tires we give back to the manufacturers usually have only two to four heat cycles on them. Just let me know and we'll UPS them out. Apparently this Z is FIA classified as a Touring Car, different to the two seater. So I'm wondering if anyone has raced one, road course, and if so how it compares with the two seater. With the longer wheelbase I'd assume it would be a bit more stable but, if so, I'm not sure how this would translate into handling characteristics. Perhaps this would be a disadvantage in tight turns but an advantage in long fast turns.

VARA's Route 66 Classic at Auto Club Speedway (Cal Speedway) is happening March 7-8. Several Datsuns will be racing in various categories, including at least five 240Zs that I know of in C Prodution. The following excerp was copied from the CentralCoastZCar website, authored by Scott Burkhardt of Club Z: Hello Everyone! I am excited, a very cool special event is happening!!! Group Z and other So Cal Z Clubs have been invited to come to the V.A.R.A. Route 66 Classic at Auto Club Speedway March 7Th. Come out and see vintage Datsuns duke it out wheel to wheel with Porches, Alphas, Mazdas and more. Larry says "Be sure to wear your Datsun shirts because the garages will …

I decided to post these as a separate thread instead of including them with the vintage racing pictures. Lots of familar names in these, including Morton, Brock, Sharp, Parkinson, Racer Brown, etc. Some of the pages are missing. I did my best to put the pages together, but if anyone notices pages that need to be moved, let me know. I am posting all of them that I have, in chronological order. If anyone has more please add them. -Mike

Our SCCA club has no club racing in our area so I'm not sure of what class we'd run in with our 1972 240Z . It has a rollcage, 5 point harness, fire system, posi rear end and stock original engine with triple carbs. Right now my wife does autocross and PDX (3.1 mile course) and seems to enjoy her Z much more than her 08 Honda S2000CR. Thanks
