This past weekend a few of us from the Tampa Bay area attended the annual "Roar & Soar" event at the Fantasy Of Flight Museum in Polk City, Florida. If you haven't been to the museum, you owe it to yourself to go. Several WW-II Period War Birds, a Super G- Constellation and older Bi-Planes etc. http://www.fantasyofflight.com/ There is a car show and the Jaguar Club puts on an auto-cross. They seem to run the same course each year, as they keep records of the previous track record for Fastest Time Of Day. It was held by a very professionally prepared, full race, E-Type at 42.0 seconds. I say "it was held" because Bill Coffee took his Z this year... Bill cranked out…

I posted this on HybridZ.org last night but I figured I'd cross-post here since I could really use some help from the carb experts...and quick! -Rick I don't know if this is too much data (I'm an engineer, can there ever be too much?) but I was hoping someone could assist me in honing in on the root cause of my issue and I always enjoy the threads that have a lot of data to go along with the HybridZ troubleshooting! Ok here's the deal, the SCCA Solo National Championships are less than two weeks away, I spent all last week thrashing to install my new Stahl header and fabbing up an exhaust for it, dyno'd on Saturday and got some decent numbers up top but I seem to have …

I saw a few people carrying full-faced helmets at the ZCON driver's meeting at the hotel, and they seem to look smaller than my open-face helmet. Is that about right? Maybe they just had smaller size helmets (Mine is XL.) I need to sit low while driving autocross, because I was hitting the headliner. thxZ

I notice on most race cars they still have the quarter windows. I was wondering why? Do these give some support? Thanks for any info. Julius

I have just ordered several DVD's from a NSW group called Motorsport Memories or www.torquenpower.com They now have three Southern Cross Rallies from the 70's transferred to DVD. Unless someone beats me to it (I am away for a few weeks) I will let you know about the contents and quality of the items. They also have a video showing Datsuns in rallying from 1977 - 1987 Decade of the Datsun or similar name. His email to me includes the following: "include the 1973 Southern Cross which I have just finished. This DVD has clips of some of the works Z cars in it. Also I am working on a new Datsun DVD called Other Dato's which will have a lot of Z-car clips in it.( I will …

I haven't been able o find anything on what actually happens at a hot-lapping session, but here are the constraints: - 3 classes: novice intermediate, expert - intermediate & expert might have track or high-speed tyres - "stock" Z cars Questions: - what kinds of speeds would you expect for each class of driver? - Do all three classes use the same rules (like no passing?) - at what speed would you need 'track tyres' If there is a helpful website, I'd appreciate a link. thxZ & z ya at ZCON
