Has anyone here taken their Z to a drag strip? I know the classic Z isn't really at home there but I'm curious about other's ETs. I haven't taken my current car but my last car, a early '73 240Z, would do 16.0X in the 1/4 at SIR in Tucson which is just over 3000 ft elevation. I took it one time and try as I might I couldn't break into the 15s. It was basically stock, 6-2-1 header 2.5" pipe through a glasspack resonator and a turbo muffler, electric fan, round top SU carbs. Anybody else tried it just for grins? Steve

Z cars finished 3, 4, 5 on Saturday and 2,3,5 on Sunday. Kudo's to Shedd and Parrish on their high finishes. I wound up 5th but still had a blast. Here is a link to some in-car video from Sunday's race.

Sad news, indeed. According to John Morton, Paul is not expected to last more than a week or 2. Picked up on the Healey list from the Vintage Race Group List ... "8/13/2008 ... Lime Rock Park was closed down for an hour & a half today to honor Paul Newman. He was attended by his family, close friends, Skip Barber, mechanics on his race team, & those who happened to be at the track. PLN toured the track in his Corvette race car w/his Buick V8 powered Volvo station wagon following. He had come to say goodbye. Diagnosed w/terminal cancer, he is not expected to live beyond September. Race driver, actor, humanitarian, family man & friend - they did not come any b…

If you have converted to 4 wheel disc brakes, I have found an amazing brake pad combination for road course driving/racing. Raybestos ST-41's up front and ST-42's in the rear. The car bites hard when just touching the brake and I was unable to get the slightes fade during my 4 - 25min NASA HPDE3 sessions at Sebring last weekend. These pads completely blow away the Carbotech XP-8 pads I was previously using. The Ray's are even responsive cold! @_@ If you are using a common caliper (i.e., Willwood Dynalites) you can order the pads online, otherwise you can trace the backing plate of your current pads and send it in for a custom grind. I got mine at speedtoys.biz but there …

Here is the last lap and a half from California Speedway last weekend (June 08), from my video camera in my roadster. Hector Cademartori and I had another epic battle as you will see below! Enjoy! Next to the Views display on the bottom right of the video is a link where you can click on "watch in high quaility". I recomend it, only because the video is so much better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zM-AdSBYz9Q

Anyone out there familiar with a rear disc brake conversion for an early Z (280-Z ) race car that utilizes a 240/280 Z front caliper which uses a `spacer` to split the caliper halves to gain 3/4" in width which then slip over a 1" wide 11" dia vented rotor? This is what is on my vintage 280Z race car. It has a nice hub mounted bolt-on caliper bracket ......... I`d like to duplicate this set-up. This car came from the SE part of the country many years ago. Any info on this set-up would be appreciated. Jeff Winter Rallye/Sport - Winter Racing Engines 303 427 0510

Watched about 6 hours of the coverage on Speed, I thought Peugeot would be more competitive but Audi just seemed to work their magic.
