hi! im about to start my racing career and i was looking into buying a Z car to race in. i dont know a lot about Z cars, but everything i have ever read or heard makes them seem incredible. as of right now, i have a couple deals, one is a 1972 240Z with a L28 turbo swap. this one looks good, but the left rear quarterpanel is completely destroyed and when i looked in the engine bay, it seemed like there was a little rust on everything except the newer turbo parts. the other deal is a 1974 260z which is a lot cleaner, but it doesnt have a turbo. the 240z is $1500 and the 260z is $1600. what do you experts think i should do?

I shot the National at RA this past weekend. There was a low turnout due to Easter & I only attended Sunday. Greg Ira debuted a new paint scheme & bodywork on his E Prod 240Z. He blew a motor in Sat. qualifying and had to run to Jacksonville FL to pick up a new one. Worked all night & made the race. Finished a strong 2nd place to a Lotus 7 even though he only got a few laps on Sat. Norton in the Lotus set a track record at 1:35.420. Greg ran a 1:35.733 with little track time. He should be strong at the VIR Double in April.

Anyone know when they will be televised? SpeedTV's site doesn't have a link yet (or am I missing it?) Steve

Finally, after three years of cajoling by the local racers, I got my act together and I can start manufacturing these: http://www.betamotorsports.com/products/240ZBrakeMCBracket.html John Wilkins, racing with VARA on the west coast, has the first "production" one on his car if you folks want to look at one in person. I ran the prototype (designed and built by Bill Savage of NPTI fame) on the Rusty Old Datsun for two years. Mike: if this is inappropriate, sorry, please delete.

Hey guys, I'm in the middle of a little semi-restoration and I ran into some questions. Well, just to introduce the car a little bit, she's a 71' 240Z rolling chassis. Basically, i'm fixing all the rust, doing body work and repainting the car. The interior is pretty much gone, except for the seats and e-brake lever. I'm not looking for anything too fancy to put in, because I plan on racing this Z. Basically, my main question would be on where I can find a complete reliably rebuilt L24 engine, and if possible have it tuned or built for high performance. I don't have any experience in engine building, but i'm willing to learn. The reason I chose the L24, is because i'm plan…

Hello, New to the forum. I'm looking to get my 240Z back out of storage and on the road. My car was a BSP Solo2/Pro Solo car for SCCA. I would like to make it more fun and chuck out the rule book as the car is not competitive in the current class structure. I have looked at Schneider Cam shaft grinds and the Old Nissan Comp catalogues but I'm not sure what would be the best Streetable TQ monster Cam that can breathe a little up top? Engine will be reconfigured to Flat Top pistons around 9:1 Compression ratio 2.8L with N42 Head. Gears will be 3:90.Triple Mikuni 44's for breathing Need help locating a 3:90 R180 or the gear as I have a well setup 3:54 LSD R180. Also looking…

I'm finally getting a "real" motor for the FP car so the stock Datsun oil/temp gauge is going to have to go. It has served me well for 7 years now, it's about time for some accuracy. So, I've got an Autometer mechanical gauge panel to install and I'm looking for pics and or recommendations from your installations to give me some ideas. My current setup is about as basic as can be so I'll have to build something to mount them on. No dash bar on the rollcage but I can probably add one if that's the easiest way. I do like to keep things simple as you can tell from the pics. Wiring and plumbing I understand, only thing left is the mounting. I've got passable fabrication …
