I was at Road America on Sunday for a lapping day. What a great track! It was BIG-TIME FUN!! Got in 120 miles of track time. The car performed really well until it got down to about 1/3 tank of gas. Then it started stumbling and sputtering. I put in 3 more gallons of 110 octane race fuel and that cleared it up for most of the rest of the day. I didn't want to fill it up at $6/gallon! My guess is that the gas is being sloshed away from the pick-up. I had the tank out this summer to replace all the vent lines and to eliminate the non-essential ones, per the advice on the boards here. The inside looked very clean, so I don't think it is plugged up in there. Would and…

I am posting this for Greg. "We are having problems keeping our R180 differentials cool during races. Has anyone used a pump system with a cooler before? If so, let me know what type of pump to use and an approximate cooler size. Thanks in advance for all input." Greg Ira" FWIW, Greg ran the national at Heartland Park Topeka as a tuneup for the Runoffs to be held there Oct. 9-15. First time he has seen the track. He set a new E Production track record in the race but pulled in not to overheat the diff.

Have a L28 - F54 block with an E31 at 13:5 compression, cosworth pistons, etc. etc. Broke the crank (right behind the last journal, so, the head is intact) and the #6 main cap, block has some blueing due to heat in that one journal. Now the question is, without having to toss an extremely well prepped block, what are my options? Having trouble locating a main cap to begin with, so I'm thinking of making 1,2,3,5 & 6 main caps of billet steel. If someone has a main cap, that would be great as the plan then would be to shot peen all the caps, line bore, cross-drill and balance the crank. Head would get new valves, springs, etc.

Anyone ever raced on the Tail of the Dragon? Whether you live around here (could meet up sometime) or if you were driving through. You guys should check it out. Windiest road in North America. 11 miles long with over 300 corners plus with a lot of side roads that are just as good. These adventures are found were the North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee boarders meet. Racers from all over the world, even nascar/F1 type racing drivers come to travel this road and love it. Its nice because along this road, as you long as you arnt going crazy the cops dont care if you are speeding. They are just there incase an accident happens, there will be someone there and let other…

FWIW, I just finished stripping out a '73 240 for parts. When I took it to the recycler it weighed in at 760 lbs. That was without any glass, suspension, interior, hatch, and about 20-30 lbs of body panels cut out. I thought that might interest some of you guys. BTW, if you know of a ITS, or Production Z for sale, let me know as I am shopping for a "fixer-upper." to start some wheel to wheel racing. Thanks, Paul

Why do some take their classic Z car to a local track? We feel that Operntrackracing’s mission statement explains it well... You've got the car. Whether it's American muscle, Asian attitude or some miracle of European engineering, you've chosen your ride and maybe even taken things a few steps further. More power, better suspension, massive brakes -- whatever the recipe you've chosen, it's produced the kind of car that could get you into some really good trouble. What do you do now? Parking lot burnouts and traffic signal hole shots get old quick. You want to see what your car can do, but body work is expensive, and maybe the points are adding up on your driving rec…
