Alright, were going to do a raffle for the longblock that will go into the Pinks car. We've decided to do this as such, we will sell tickets @ $26 per ticket, that way it should be w/ in everyones budget to a degree. We must sell a minimum of 275 tickets. We'll cap sales at 325 tickets or 5 days after the 275 mark has been broken, whichever occurs 1st. In buying these raffle tickets you will be helping fund the pinks build so that we can complete the car, and bring the most competitive S30/L block to pinks that is presently possible! We cannot talk specifics of the motor on unsecured forums, but it will be safe to say that even if you bought $1000 in raffle tickets, yo…

A friend of mine is selling his F Prepared Z car. The car is damned fast and has beat me more than any other car in the country. It is in need of fresh tires and probably some general maintenance since it hasn't been run in a while... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4652540411&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT Tom

Hi everyone, Got a call last night from Mark Davey, with Z owners of Northern California (ZONC.org), reminding me about the upcoming historical races in Monterey California Aug 19th. As usual there will be corral parking for numerous marks. To actually establish corral parking, 30 spots must be confimed for a given mark (Z's). So, now is the time to start making your plans. More info can be had @ ZONC.org or give Mark a call at (775)267-0475 to make revervations. Last year was my first time for the Historical races and Z corral parking....had a really good time. Drove up with Eric and a couple of his partners. Of course we had to do all the twisty back roads on the way u…

Hi Guys, I'm having a 280 block bored out for my "low budget" stroker in Shelby,North Carolina. I know its hard to find a torque plate in my local machine shops for the L-series engines. If anyone is interested, Plate will be at the shop for a least a couple of weeks. Welcome to use. BTW, I have a 240 block bored 40 over free to any takers...Several years old, torque plate not used for this over bore. David

OK, first, let's just get this out of the way: Everyone repeat after me. "If you don't want to spend the money, you have no business racing." Right. I don't want to spend four figures on suspension if I can avoid it. I'd like to find a way to get springs in the 400-350 pound range and stay with the stock struts and mounts. By playing with the spring rate calculator at http://www.proshocks.com/calcs/coilsprate.htm, it seems that I only need slightly thicker springs. 0.637" in the front would give me 400# and 0.618 in the rear would give me 350#. Compare that to the stock spring thicknesses of about 0.417" and 0.448" Great. Actually, if you got springs of about the same le…

Some race courses require you to have a license to get on the track. A flyer would say something like "members must be High Speed Certified" or "All SPORTS CAR drivers must show proof of prior high speed experience or training." What does that mean? Can you get something like that for a Z? Can you get one by driving a Z around some race course, or do you just take a written exam, or both? From what I've read, you take some desk cours(es) and some driving instruction, using real a race-prepped car. For local races, like with Corvettes or Porsches, I rarely see anything that's race-prepped. The drivers just have jeans & long-sleeve shirt, and a helmet. thx thx

Hello, Bent 6 intake valves at the track last weekend, and assumed a timing issue was the cause. After removing timing gear and related components, all appears to be in order (no missing teeth on gears, tensioner in good shape). Also, the oil pump/distributor drive gear is fine. Now I'm thinking the valve springs were at fault. I didn't build the engine that's currently in the car, but it certainly appears that the head ( an N47) is equipped with stock springs. I'd like to just upgrade the springs and run this engine as-is with current cam (after repairing the valves)...any suggestions on valve spring upgrades? I had the engine at 6000-6500 RPM frequently, so I need a set…

http://d-faction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=101 For $105, 30 cars max, Stafford Springs track, drift as much as you can. Last year I blew up my Z there, long sweeper and low on oil....but the track was fun, very safe, decent on tires as well, and I had a great time. Plus there will be a car show there...even if you come to watch...it's still worth it to set that date aside and go. And this year I got the Z rebuilt for this...so I'll be there burnong up some tires and getting a tan. Plus after the event, I'll have an after party at my house in Meriden....BYOB.
