Everybody knows how fast the l.e.d.lights pop on when you hit the switch. Do you think they will replace the incandescent christmas tree lamps (at the drag strip) with l.e.d. lamps? When I think of the 'reaction speed,' I think that since the bulbs takes so long to come on, you can only guess or anticipate the timing for the start. thx

I'm not sure if "roof-edge trim piece" is the right term. You know, that piece of metal that runs along the roof-door window opening. It's the piece the arrows are pointing to in the image below: I want to remove this piece from my under-construction ITS car (I wish this was my car pictured, but, no, it's another member's car). I consider this piece dangerous. It's my understanding that the only fatality in the history of IT racing involved an exterior trim piece like this that came off during a roll-over and impaled the driver. It looks like it's attached with a few welds, probably at each end with a few in between. I figure I'll need to grind it off at these welds,…

If you wanted to do soime rallies, or some speed laps or whatever ( even highway safety?), what kind of helmet would you get? Open face? full face? Maybe it would be good if somebody could post some general rules for helmet requirements & use. thx

Here's a cool message posted to our mailing list by one of the members when I asked about rally racing: Mike, because there are so many different types, saying you're interested in rallying is almost as wide open as saying you're interested in racing. It ranges from a small group of enthusiasts on a poker hand tour to the madness of the WRC. I'll try to briefly sort out those found in North America. Terminology may differ in your area. For more info go to SCCA.org Gimmick rallies - usually pretty low key events, paved roads, relaxed speeds, easy navigation and non-critical timing. Often put on with a gimmick or theme. ie: Checkpoints at graveyards or apple orchards, mayb…

Does anyone know if it's possible to put a 16x8 wheel with wider than 225's on a 240 with stock, rolled fenders, and coil-overs? If so, maybe you could provide some details and dimensions. I use the car for autocross ( SCCA SM2 ) I hate to use the measuring method because it seems difficult to calculate suspension travel. Also I would hate to find out the expensive way, that the combo rubs. I would much rather talk to someone who has tried and trued something. PLEASE HELP. Thanks. Justin Bowen.

I don't dispute the 80% figure. I have read that the leaders use the stock (aluminum with steel insert) drums but they warn that the drums must be perfectly trued to get them to "do their share" (whatever that means). They say you can't to it without an adjustable proportioning valve. One message on ImprovedTouring.com had an interesting comment: "if the drums aren't turning blue you don't have enough rear bias" I've read a recommendation for Carbotech Kaelite Metallic shoes. I've only run shorter Solo I's, so I've never really heated them up enough to boil the fluid. But I've seen cars come in from a 30-minute road race where it was raining. The whole car was wet but t…

For those who take their Zs to the track in California, March 17th is a Nissan/Datsun day put on by the SERCA Club if you are interested. $140 for the day with a lunch is a good price. You won't be wiping that smile off your face for days after! We will be there for an Opentrackracing event the day before and then the SERCA event on the 17th. Let us know if you have questions or email Carlos. Thanks Craig & Cindy Here is the message from Carlos: Hello fellow Datsun/Nissan track nuts! Online registration for Big Willow on St. Patty's Day is now up at: http://www.gfos.net/serca/2005/bigwillow/reg.php Please note that we CAN accept "very 1st timers" at this event, T…

Hi guy's The rally is also (!) history but now you see the competitors. A lot of semi works entries where there. Only for the scenery it’s worth looking for See http://www.acm.mc/rallye-histo/redac/redac-galerie-fugier.php
