Thanks to all who gave advice on how to best set up my 260Z car using our new struts, springs and coilovers. I re-wrote and printed out much of what you guys said and listed it for use at the track. Here's how things went and what we found: First off, David and John B were right... a spring combination of 350fr/250rear can work. Perhaps its true that softer on the front would be better, but the car will drive with this spring setup and drive well. In the first session, we had the coilovers set too low on the front and the suspension bumped to a stop with only an inch or so of travel. Obviously, that gave us a huge push. We came in and raised the front coilovers by four ro…

Greetings. A newbie here. Got a '74 260z that races on a 2-mile road course. Average speeds are around 75 mph. Slows to 35 and tops out at 120 or so. The suspension was stock and I'm upgrading all four corners to Pro Shock coil over kits with Tokico adjustable struts, Pro Shock springs (350 fr/250 rear) and ArizonaZcar monoball camber plates all around. I know we can debate specific spring rates and strut brands all day, but won't this get me in the ball park and build enough adjustability into the suspension to have a decent base to work from? Right now it handles like a dog. Many thanks.

Have recieved some new information about this event from the Clerk of Course, Tom Snooks. So there is no confusion with other threads, I have created this new one. The Datsun 240Z finished fourth outright. it was Car no 3 1. Bond/Shepheard XUI 2. Brock/Kilfoyle XUI 3. Mcleod/Mortimer XUI 4. Herrmann/Bonhomme The car was entered by Nissan Motor Co (Aust) Pty Ltd. Another vehicle entered was a 180BSSS for John Roxburgh/Mike Mitchell. This finished 9th. These were the only Datsuns entered. At Winron Raceway Herrmann kept getting in the way of Jon Leighton (Mini), blaming fuel surge. Leighton nearly crashed into Herrmann a couple of …

Guus, I couldn't help but notice the neatness of the Driving Light mount on your car. Much improved to the version that I'm using! The photo in the Rallaye Video Thread looks great, could I ask you for some close ups of the mount and possibly a explaination as to how it's made? I've started a thread for this so any info on the subject remains together. TIA:cheeky:

I have scanned a feature that was published in the Racing Car News on the Dashing Datsuns in the 1972 Southern Cross Rally. Unfortunately, no matter what I try I can't get it uploaded. If anyone would like copies and upload to this site please mail me with your address.

My EProd car isn't even close to being complete so I'm renting a 1975 280Z for this Saturday's Regional SCCA race at Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis. I'm picking the car up tonight. It is a car I used to compete against in ITS. It's been three years since I've raced so I'm pretty stoked! I'll try to post some photos and maybe a couple of in-car video snippets.

The machinist who was going to make my plates for me retired so he couldn't manufacture them on 'company time'. I found a place online called eMachineshop.com that has some nifty software to download that you can CAD draw your part. You then simply submit the order and they will build it. Just ordered four of these plates: Plate Design Delivered cost was about $95. I'll let you know in two weeks how they came out.
