This was posted to me, so I thought I would pass it on! So you want to build you're zed into a dragster, read on!!! Kind of makes any other form of motor racing pale into insignificance. This will put motor racing right into perspective for you. These things are seriously impressive. One dragster's 500-inch Hemi makes more horsepower then the first 8 rows at Daytona (or Bathurst 1000). Under full throttle, a dragster engine consumes 1 1/2 gallons of nitro per second, the same rate of fuel consumption as a fully loaded 747, but with 4 times the energy density. The supercharger takes more power to drive then a stock hemi makes. With nearly 3000 CFM of air being rammed i…

What's the consensus on cutting a coil or two off the strut springs? I'm looking to lower the car some and add a little negative camber also. I have a set of performance springs that work pretty good on the track, but I can't get any more camber adjustment. (I need to get a little more for running high-speed events). I realize cutting the spring will lower the car some, not a bad thing, though. How will this affect the spring rate? Will it increase it some or at all? At this point, I don't have the budget for coil-overs, and standard camber plates are designed to be used with coil-overs. I know MSA has a set of camber plates to be used with stock struts, but I'm afr…

So, what do our American brothers think of last weekend's US F1 Grand Prix? Did anyone on this forum attend? How do you rate the F1 cars compared to your IRL cars? (and doesn't IRL stand for International Rugby League?!) Comments anyone?

Ok everyone with just one week to go I have gotten the last relevant details and this will be a long but informative note. We are getting many interested people but not the overwhelming response I thought we may get but maybe some of these final details willl sway people to sign up. We have confirmed that John Morton and Bob Bondurant and Steve Millen will be there for sure and there is a Possibility that Pete Brock may also make it if he returns from LeMans in time. Of course Mr.K will be there as well and I have decided that our track day will become a tribute to the man that got Datsun into racing outside of Japan so he is also the Father of Datsun racing and we hope w…

Apparantly I've got too much time on my hands and would like to have a go at building a rally car. In my yard I have a straight 240z shell and a straight 1600 shell, I know the virtues of the 1600 but haven't had the 240 full squirt on the dirt (motor out). So my question is what makes the more competitive rally car in each of their own classes. thanks Steve

What is everybody using? I'd like some adjustables using rod ends but there just doesn't seem to be enough room on my car so I'm still using stock type with urethane bushings. It would be nice if there were some spherical bearings that could fit on/in the forged eyes on the sway bars.

I just posted some pictures in my gallery of home made adjustable, solid (no rubber/urethane), tension/compression rods for use with stock lower control arms. These can be duplicated by anyone with time to source the British (MOWOG) "hip-jpoints". This modification was standard practice by the CP racers of the 70's. It allows adjustment of caster on lowered cars without trying to tweak camber plates to a position they were not intended to go. You will of course be eliminating rubber/urethane donuts at chassis so the ride will be harsher. But the caster and toe-out will not change under heavy braking/hard cornering which is a big plus.

For anybody interested: May 22 & 23, 2004 - The Rio Grande Valley Porche Club will be hosting a 2-day High-speed Event with 2 separate track layout. A discount deal was set for Z drivers to help boost attendance. So far we have 3 early cars (2-240's, 1-280), 4-5 350Z's, a few 240SX's, and 1 race prepped Datsun Roadster that will be in attendance. I'm posting this for anybody in the South-Central Texas region that would like to come down and watch the Z Contingency whip up on the local Porches and Corvettes! It's good fun and the beach is 15 minutes away. If you want to run your car, you can do that also, but the discount was for early registration. RGV PCA Club …

The Historic Rally Monte Carlo is over, from the 351 starters, only 276 finished. If you want to know how many Datsun’s took part and finished…. Have a look at http://www.acm.mc/acm/index.html for the whole event. For a quick answer look at The Victory Lane Former works Datsun driver Tony Fall was again at the scene.

On Friday my car was totaled by a 944 Porsche:( Ity happened in pratice when I spun on the first turnand ended up on the outside of the coner about 2 meters of the race track. The Yellow flags cam out and I tryed to restart the car. I couldnt get it running again (carbies were flooded). The after about a minute a 944 who wasnt paying attention to the yellow flags lost control and t boned my car on the left hand side. I was not hurt just got a few bruses. But my poor Z is pretty much stuffed. Hopfully I can rebuild it but its soooo disapointing when you put so much time ito a car and some ##!! head runs into you. Anyway you can check out the picks in my gallery. I will po…
