I saw this on Facebook: http://www.clubracing.com/post/769/1970+Datsun+240+Z.+Historic+FIA/SCCA+%2CMACAU+Race+Car/ I saw this car at Road Atlanta many years ago. Carl has a blurb about the car on his site; http://zhome.com/History/MacauZ/macau240Z.htm

I have read about single layer racing jackets recently from reading about drag racing safety. The jackets are supposed to be certified SFI 3.2A/1. Would that pass the scrutineers for SCCA/low-speed lapping? What is the intended use for that? Should I expect it to be bulky or heavy? I was considering getting one, because they are not to expensive (about $60) and seems a practical piece of safety gear for certain low-key events, like lapping, rally, etc., or just as a fancy windbreaker for the car, and would probably be better than the old-fashioned boron treatment.

After qualifying 3rd and tangling with a Honda in the EP race, Greg Ira added a 3rd-place finish to his SCCA Runoffs portfolio and put a Datsun on the stand once again (photo borrowed from Dave Patten/FutoFab) http://cdn.growassets.net/user_files/scca/downloads/000/018/014/EP_Runoffs2016_Race_Provisional.pdf?1474659180 http://www.scca.com/events/1980938-2016-scca-runoffs-presented-by-garmin-virb

I have read some SCCA regs on what's required to go on a helmet, such as putting your name, birthdate & blood type on the back, and the safety sticker is supposed to be there, but I haven't been able to find any regs on what, if anything, goes on the suit. I would suppose a patch with your name goes over the left chest (pocket) and one with your team affiliation, if any, probably on the other side (pocket.) ad the SCCA patch, for SCCA licensed racers. Is there Anything else that's truly important/required? If there are any regs, please tell me where in the GCR to find them.

Higuys, You are required to have a tow hooks or straps if you go racing, or possibly even hot-lapping, so I was thinking of how you would install them on the Zed. I think on the front you could attach a short strap to the bottom of the center radiator support (in stead of the tiedown points, to center the tow-point and avoid damage to the lower valence panel) and feed it under or through the grill. You'd have to put on a zip-tie or something to keep it in place or keep some tension on the strap so it doesn't hang down or even fall on the ground and drag. But on the back, you don't have that much of the frame exposed to put on a strap or even an metal bar. If you …

Trying to find if I've missed a forum that caters to the 510 or roadster racers. I ask because I have a set of NOS NISMO 510 or Roadster rear brake shoes - the Ferodo AM4 "green stuff". Nismo screwed up and sent them to me when I ordered the 240z brakes many years ago,(20?). They obviously didn't fit - and I never dug deep to check part numbers. I've been toting them around all these years in the event I built up a race Z with stock rear drums,(and i just had made a mistake in my install). Once I figured out the issue, NISMO no longer carried either set,(Z or 510's). I could always do Ebay, but trying to improve my exposure and thus my return on my "inve…
