280Z vs. turbo grand prix. me and my friend dane have been racing against each other for awhile now. he's beat me every time in my previous car wich was a 1997 grand prix gt (3.8). dane drives a 89 turbo grand prix. the boost in the car is outa control. we both pull up to a stop sign at the same time. dane doesn't reconize me at first because of new car. so we talk for a few. no traffic at all. then we decide to see if the 280 is any faster than my old car. he starts buliding up psi. we both start revving our engines i start it we both burn out. but the boost on the grand prix makes it takes off. he gets about 2 car lengths on me. i catch him when i shift into 3rd were ab…

For anybody that lives in or near Lexington Ky there is an SCCA region here. My dad and I own a 1973 240z that we have raced for four years. There have only been two other Z cars that have ever shown up to race in those four years. In other words I would love to see more of these cars show up to run. We have an autocross on Nov. the 2 at the Applebee's Stadium where the Legends Play. If anybody would like to run just show up. ps. I read the stuff about a Z beating a Z06. We reguraly beat a Corvette that runs in our class. It's great to be in a 30 year old car and still outrun most of the entire field of cars. pps. If anybody knows how to properly tune Weber …

Not sure if this has already been seen or not. But here's a video clip of a seriously modded 240Z on the track, where its clearly outrunning the competition! :classic: I've been told that the 240Z is Greg Duprees, not certain though, it has a 300zx TT engine in it. Enjoy! http://www.opentracking.com/240ZvsZ06.mpg

I have owned my 71 240Z now for 18months and probably done about 10 race events consisting of 1 km sprints on street circuits, 20 km sprints on race tracks and various hill climbs. The cars suspension was set up to try and cater for all types of on road conditions and has proved to be very good. The engine is basically standard with mild cam, extractors, electronic distributor and N42 head giving 134BHP on the Dyno at the rear wheels. Wheels are 16" x 7" with 205 x 50 series Falken ZE 326 tyres. Doing the 1km sprints I have had difficulties with the huge gap between 2nd and 3rd gear and was 1 - 2 secs slower than other guys in my class. Investigation showed that my 240Z w…

I am upgrading my race car from a 2 pole to a 4 pole kill-switch. The switch comes with diagrams for a one wire or a field alternator style of installation. Difference being that one breaks the connection from the field wire to the positive pole of the battery with its auxiliary terminals while the charge wire is interrupted by the break in the main fuse block. The other interrupts the charge wire to positive pole only and omits the field wire. Am I missing out and this is just showing me how two different alternators will be wired? It would appear if this is the case that I need the field wire style. Am I right? There are two diagrams but NO instructions or explanations …

I am installing Hood pins on my 280 (in the steel hood) and was wondering how most people install the discs that reinforce the panel? I was considering sheet metal screws or rivets and was looking for some opinions. Thanks Bryan

what has to happen to get sponsered? I would asseme that you'd have to have the product on or in the car. Then win some races, but how do I let the company know that I'm winning. Pic's, video, etc.? Just need some info for future use. Thanks :rambo:

I just picked up a pair of Corbeau TRS seats on E-Bay. Does anyone know where I can buy the brackets for the 240Z. Some of the websites I found wont sell the bracket without the seat. Mark:cry:

I was curious what kind of 'restoration' you guys do to your z cars when you do race prep them for competition? Do you just shop for a rust free arizona car, or do you strip and dip the unit-body first? -David
