Like Alan said, it was the year that all the cars broke down before the last stage. The Z that was runing this year didn't do very well, they broke the gearbox. But the one I was refering to is the one from the 1971 event. I will dig to see if I can come up with a pict from an era mag... Fred, sorry for the delay and Alan your were right as usual !

On the Datsun Z Garage site he talks about the E88 and N36 carb intakes, says heard of E46 but not seen one. My '70 Z has the E46, does anyone know what is different about it?:cross-eye

I've only competed in these when they are part of a Tarmac Rally. The zed really isn't up to it as it's longer wheelbase just can't compete against Mini's! Having said that, only recently I took the 240 out to a grass motorkhana and probably had the best non competitive time I've had for years! Mike :classic:

Got a line on a 81 280ZX. I know I can use the L28, 5 speed, R200, brake booster, rear disk brake setup. Is the tank any bigger? And more importantly..will it fit? What else is good to swap into a 240?

Scored the sweetest piece of eq the other day! It is an R200 in 4.11 ratio. Now, that in itself is no big deal right? Well this sucker is equipped with a Torsen limited slip unit!! For those of you who do not know what a Torsen LSD unit is, it is a torque sensing limited slip. The standard Nissan LSD is a clutch type unit (viscous units are available as well but need more mods to fit the early Z) The clutch type units have approx 45lbs of breakaway torque. Not bad, but easily overwhelmed by a strong engine. The Torsen unit (as well as the Quaife) use invex gears (not clutches) to send torque back and forth across the axle as needed. It never requires a rebuild and never …

I emailed the folks at arizonazcar.com about getting the primary and secondary diameters for their Zcar 6-1 equal length header and so far have yet to get a reply - it's been like 2 weeks. Does anyone have this data they can share with me? (Am wondering if it is worth keeping the non-equal length 3-2-1 header I have right now.)

My first post: I'm interested in changing autocross classes next year. I've been running an H-Stock Civic for a couple of years but I want to move to something I can modify and that is RWD. BSP has always looked like a lot of fun, and I've always regretted selling my 73. I've got a line on a (relatively) rust free 240Z that is running, so my plan was to start with the suspension. I know I won't be competitive my first year in the car, 2002 will be spent building the car and learning how to drive it. The car will see (very) occasional street duty, but the ride quality is not important. I'm figuring I'll end up with coilovers in the long run, but to start out I'm …

Hey gang; I just bought my first Z-Car… A 73’ 240, Woo Hoo !! I’m in the process of prepping it for an ITS car but am so new into Z-Car’s I'm at a loss with some elementary parts. Seeing that I need to keep the stock Calipers and Drum Brakes does anyone have any suggestions on a brand and compound of Pads & Shoes? Any help is much appreciated!
