Has anyone watched the new 4-wide style of drag racing? I'll bet it looks kind of spectacular, with all 4 vehicles going at once, but I am skeptical on this concept. I read that a number of NHRA drivers sent an official letter out to critique this style of racing. They thought it was dangerous to have 4 cars going at once, it detracts from the closeness of 2-wide racing, the traffic in the staging lanes is "like a circus" and the sponsors don't get noticed as well. I tend to agree with all that. Just imagine if one car got sideways and jumped the center wall. It could possibly take out the other three cars in one heat! I was looking for the rules governing the 4-wide…

I thought I'd put this here since 50's are for the most part a "race only" item. I emailed him asking if they were Solex/Mikuni's, or strictly Solex. He replied with the following: Theses are made by solex before Mikuni took over. These were made when Solex and Mikuni first started merging. They are cast Solex made in Japan Ebay auction here The N42 head is also included. I wonder what Mikuni parts, such as jets, will transfer over?

Went out to the 6 hours of Spa this weekend ... great time, snapped some nice photos (not as many as I would have liked as my camera battery was dieing!) and meet some cool people. Can't wait to go again next year. I was hoping to have the Z running as you can get free parking if you bring a classic car, a 5 buck discount on entry and 1 lap around the course during a car parade before the main 6 hour race. Grrrrr ... if only they didn't want some stupid bellow on the tie rod changed! I guess there is next year ... Here are the photos: http://www.gregggermer.com/photos/2007%206%20Hours%20of%20Spa/index.html

I recently sold a Factory Five Cobra replica which was pretty competitive in XP, (2300lbs and 471rwhp, 800 and 1000lb springs F/R) and I want to build a Z for Autocross and mild track work (HDPE) and hill climbs. I'm currently thinking a LS2 with a wide-body kit, stripped interior and cage. I don't plan on serious competition, so absolute adherence to the SCCA rulebook is not required. The groups I intend to run with aren't that retentive. From some research here, it's obvious there's some very experienced and knowledgeable folks. I'm open to ideas and advice. I'm in the early research phase. Purchases are a year or so off. Thanks in advance for the help and advice…

Higuys, A few months ago, I picked up up a cool app for my Android tablet and I've used it a few times so far for driving on the track at Mid Ohio. It's called aLapRecorder. www.adyno.net First of all, the all the app can record HD video of the road ahead, if you mount your device so the camera can view the road. It uses the GPS receiver to record location data, and the app calculates your speed, and displays that on the screen in some small gauge-like "dials." It will also display G forces from the device's accelerometer, and if you have an OBDII engine ECU, using a Bluetooth interface, you can also display engine RPM, trottle position, vacuum, Load/HP, torque, a…
