You know those decals that look like shields on the fender of vintage sports cars? I mean the stuff like the Scuderia Ferrari shield on the Ferrari race cars. Is there a formal name for those decals? I noticed that there are other kinds besides the Scuderia Ferrari, but I couldn't see what was on them. Some were round or rectangular or squareish. thxZ

I took a whole lot of photos yesterday. The first batch is online. It will take a while to get photos from all three days up, so check my website frequently. http://stevescartography.wordpress.com

After a discussion arising from a recent thread, I took a closer look into the question of 'The first Z pace car'. That is to say, the first S30-series Z car to be used for 'Pace Car' duties in a race event worldwide. I have been encouraged to post this information here on the site for all to see, so here goes: The first instance of use that I can back up with solid documentary evidence, data and pictures is at the 'Race De Nippon' event - held on 12th April 1970 at FISCO ( Fuji Speedway ) in Japan. This 6-hour race included 'TS-II', 'TS-III' and 'GTS' classes, with two SCCN ( Nissan's works team ) Fairlady Z432-R cars entered in the GTS class. Car no.1 was crewed by ac…

Help. For a stock L28 engine, the piston pops out of the block but the AtlanticZ and OzDat engine planning tools do not match!! I looked at my FSM's to double check all numbers: Connecting Rod Length: L28 connecting Rods c-c 130.35mm in FSM's Honsowetz, Monroe, and on-line engine calcs give 130.20mm (so this is an error but not enough to make the model fit the real world.) Piston Compression Height: Not in FSM's but it is 38.1mm everywhere Crank Stroke: 79.0mm in FSM Still, with the con rod adjustment I get a piston above deck at 0.08mm and OzDat tool gives 0.06mm using the shorter rod data. Real world for L28 is ~ 0.584mm protrusion of piston ab…

Hi All, I have revised the engine planning tool on our club's website (attached). Please take it for a spin and if possible, provide corrections to the data and also suggestions for more data. It is attached below. You should be able to save to your desktop and open with your browser. FYI just type in the green blocks if you want to manually override any value. Hopefully I am in the right subforum. I have a Datsun Competition intake and I am thinking about selling it with my SK triple carbs to go towards other more necessary parts. I was wondering if anyone had a good idea of what maybe the intake alone would sell for. I saw some NOS ones through Japan that were asking over 1K. I know that most used triple intakes sell for around 300 with linkages etc. I just don't know if the guys with period correct race cars would specifically look for this intake etc. and if it commanded a premium.

Looks to be a decent car with substantial history, CP work dating back to the 70's. At first glance I thought it may be this one featured on reaction's site, but now I wonder: The Ad Datsun 240z GT-2 Vintage SCCA racer For Sale additional photos per his ad: 240 GT-2 Photos by ks71z28 | Photobucket
