Here is another online article I came across that was originally published in the Aug/Sept 1997 issue of Sports Car International magazine http://www.theautochannel.com/publications/magazines/sci/aug-sept-97/waywewere.frame. It discusses the 1996 Nissan USA 240Z restoration program. As with most Z related articles, there are some inaccuracies about who gets credit for the design, and the early history, such as removing Fairlady badging on the docks, etc, but I still found the part about the restoration program interesting, so hopefully some others will too. -Mike

This is part of an ongoing study of the S30s construction. I have enlisted the use of this chart to illustrate the S30s movement through the Metal Shop. The chart and the names of the lines are provided by Nissan. This was the Metal Shop Layout that was used at the District 1 Shonan Plant, the District 2 Shonan Plant and the Kyoto Plant. It is the first time I have seen an overview/flow chart of Nissan's Metal Shops. Although several technological improvements would have undoubtedly been made since the S30 run, I believe this general layout would closely resemble the system used. The jury is still out. Did Nissan use a “buck” system for frameup during the S30 run? That me…

I was rummaging through my old car stuff and rediscovered this that was prepared by Nissan in 1995 about the Z America Relay celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Z Car. As Mr. K would say - Enjoy the ride! :classic:

I know that Datsun did not care too much about serial numbers and keeping records but is there any way at all to get the original window sticker for a 1975 2380Z. I have one that I just bought that is COMPLETELY OIGINAL and absolutly like new so it would be nice if I could get my hands on the oiginal sticker. Thanks for the help Larry

One of the activities at Zcon this year was a trip to the Lane Museum. Apparently they regularly have cars from Nissan North America's collection on display. The only Datsun currently on display, and the most interesting car to me, was the 1970 240Z that set the F/GT production class land speed record at Bonneville in 1976. Beginning in 1974 a small group of Nissan USA employees built a Datsun B-210 that set the I production class record. Then in 1975 they built a 280Z 2+2 that set both the F and G production records. This was all done in their spare time using Nissan parts and surplus vehicles that were scheduled to be scrapped by Nissan. A couple of months ago I …

Just found an awesome article on the site 'Ate Up With Motor'. If you guys have never heard of this site you should really check it out. It's a wealth of information on cars, car makers, and automotive icons. I've only read a few articles so far, but each one has had me glued to the screen. They're fairly long, but particularly well written. Z Trip: The Original Datsun Z-Car I'm only about halfway through this at the moment, but so far everything I've read lines up with what I've heard here and on zhome, etc. Enjoy!

The Z Car Club of Rochester (ZCCR) presents the Third Annual Jonathan Krenzer Memorial All Japanese Car Show on Saturday, July 10, 2010. In addition to the hundreds of great cars of all Japanese marques, we are thrilled to announce that the show will feature a very special display of several historic Datsun/Nissan vehicles: * 1969 Datsun 240Z HLS30-00006, the oldest HLS30 in existence. The first car to leave the factory in October 1969 for car show presentation. This is the originally green car that a model infamously sat on and dented, resulting in it being removed from the car show circuit. It was then given to Bob Sharp for racing development. The car was success…
