Couldn't believe this when I saw it at the bookstore. A few I've seen before, the obligatory Rocky Auto car and an impressive write-up on Hans Ruth's Z-racecar. Might be available at Kinokuniya for you West Coast dwellers.

I take great pleasure studying and analyzing old file photos, sketches, illustrations etc. of all the different models of the S30 in the production, testing, shipping, or just new and still in the unmolested state, when I come across them, as I know many others on this board do. For the purpose of discussion I didn’t know where to put this, thus the new thread. I would like to hear the thoughts of others, to help us better understand. Recently 26thZ (Chris) posted some very interesting photos & sketches that warrant some careful study. Some of them seem to create more questions than answers. I am going to touch on a few of these, and would love to hear other opinion…

Hello, I just purchased a nice 1979 280zx, car is equipped with AC,PS, and is 5-speed manual. According to manual the letters H-L-F-B-C should be in VIN. VIN shows H s130 and only numbers following, all VIN locations match. Can anyone explain this oddity?

A buddy of mine owns a used car dealership, and his grandfather recently passed away. We were going through some old hubcaps he was collecting and found these... http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b82/1BADLS1/zhub2.jpg I figured they were from an 80's model zx, but wasn't sure. Has anyone seen these hub caps before?

While not exactly Z history, this relates to the Prince, then Nissan R380, and by association, the PS30 or Fairlady Z 432. The test bed for what would develop into the S20 engine. Original version was named the GR8. Original Prince R380 started as a Brabham BT8 chassis No.SC 9 1964. Records from 1993,(See here)indicate it is still retained by the original purchaser (Now Nissan?) I believe the very successful trip to Surfers Paradise in 1969 by Nissan/Datsun with the R380 MkIII was the only foray outside japan for any of the R380 series. The last four paragraphs of the last page sum it up. (Well DUuhh! Jim :stupid: ) Some early Datsun racing Just a bit of historic tr…
