I just received a British "CAR" magazine issued in March, 1970. It has coverage of the Jan. 1970 Brussels Motor Show and a couple of interesting photos of a yellow white 240z. It seems to be a LHD Euro Spec as it is missing the rear side markers. It also has interesting fender (wing) mirrors. They seem to be chrome and much like the rectangular door mirrors. The tail lights are red and orange. There seems to be a top front bumper bar and a tow hook under the rear bumper. I can't make out the hubcaps or wheel type. This too may be the article that starts the Goertz myth as it bumbles his involvement as well as Yamaha involvement in the S20 DOHC engine. …

I purchased HLS0003547 from Calmbach Motor Co. in San Antonio TX in July of 1970. I was a soon to be ETS'd SP5 at the Medical Field Service School (read about it in the novel M.A.S.H.!) and heading home to CA and grad school. Married, my wife and I drove it 91K miles until 1984, and began a complete restoration for my book "How to Restore Your Datsun Z-Car", California Bill's Auto Books, Tucson AZ. This has been in print for twenty years now, and brings me about a buck a day, still! We showed the car locally for a number of years, but back then a Japanese car didn't pack much punch at concours! In about 1997 we had a financial crisis, and I had to sell 3547 back to…

Does anyone have details on early Z's with no factory radio? There seems to be a storage bin in its place. Do flat blanking plates also exist as well? Also, are there any details of the antenna hole plug? @kats

I thought it would be nice to have one thread show original vintage posters. Here are a couple I have. I plan to get the East African Safari Rally and the Frisselle posters framed. -Mike

Some of the earliest 1969 promo materials with an interesting early LHD with no badges. I'm guessing it may be or precede HLS30-004 & 5 as they also were without badges and have same hubcaps. Seems to be light colour...maybe silver like HLS30-004 & 5. @Mike B@kats@HS30-H@Carl Beck

https://motor-fan.jp/article/10005253?page=5 In development of Fairlady Z, 67 car prototype cars were installed in collision experiments because consideration for safety at the time of collision was a big theme only for ultra high speed cars. In the case of a frontal collision, a method of absorbing energy by deformation of the front part of the body and reducing the influence on the occupant, in particular, a method of lengthening the nose, further weakening the tip part, and increasing the rigidity near the dash cowl is adopted There. That was supported by an experiment (photo) that collides with a concrete barrier at a speed of 50 km / h. The deform…
