Since expansion valves for the zx are easier to find than the long extinct s30 expansion valves, yes i have 3 brand new ones, has anyone tried swapping out the evaporators? They look very similar in shape and i already have a 79zx high pressure line and dryer on my s30.

Guys I've got a 78 280z that is in need of an ignition switch. I was wondering if you guys know if the ignitions are swappable between the 240's through the 280's? Basically is it possible to take a whole assembly from a 240 or 260 and swap it into a 280? Thanks!

Found these review mirrors on eBay: Here Got them for Christmas, thought they looked like they were made from crappy cheap plastic (probably are, I mean the name on the sticker says Phanton when I'm guessing it was supposed to say Phantom) Lots of flashing made them look sort of bad as well, I thought. I took a razor, cut off the excess flashing, sanded down where I cut. Then I sanded the whole of the exterior, cleaned with acetone (which seemed to react with the plastic once the outside was sanded off) and rattle canned in flat black to match the rest of my nearly finished matte black car that I'm currently finishing the wrapping of (in vinyl).\ I think it looks pret…

Hi! I am wondering if I can connect a 260/280Z oil/temp gauge to the wiring in my 240z and get it to work properly? Are the senders the same on the L24 as on the L26/L28? The case is that my car don't have the original oil/temp gauge installed, and I have 260z gauge available:) Regards, Tomzern

I know this has been done over & over, but this is the first time I've had an opportunity to take a stab at the conversion first hand. These are pictures of my friend's Z. The shifter is from a Mustang. I fabricated the trans mount. His car has the early transmission mounting attachment method (2 vertical bolts). I opted to chop up a later style trans mount instead of butchering the stock 72 one (in case he wants to go back "original" one day). Luckily, the T5 gearbox was pulled from an S30 which already had the conversion done to it, so no driveshaft modification was required, which I assume would be to shorten the 280ZX one or adapt a 72 driveshaft to use the T5 fro…

After hours of searching and obsessing, I have almost decided to swap my close-ratio 81-83 5-speed for a rebuilt 77-79 box. I have the stock 3.54 differential and want acceleration similar to the original 4-speed, but still want to be able to drive on the highway in Atlanta without revving the crap out of the engine (85-95 mph). However, I have read a couple of threads touting the Maxima 5-speed box due to the issues with the bolt backing out on the early 5-speeds and the higher 5th gear. However, from what I have seen, they say to get the 83-84 transmission. When I did a parts search search (Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market - GREAT site), it appears the 82 box is…

I'm doing a thorough refurb of my '72 z and one of the important goals is to reduce cabin noise. Therefore, I'm considering replacing the 6-2-1 headers on my 3.2l street motor with an N33 exhaust manifold I had on a previous engine. The N33 manifold was recommended to me on the early '80's as an alternative to headers by Frank Leary (Frogline Racing). He said the N33 flowed well, is quieter than headers, and that it was designed to help compensate for performance losses due to stricter '73 emission standards. I still have the drawing somewhere that he drew to describe it to me. Anyhow, I wanted to get your feedback on this idea. Link to E30 and N33 manifold photos, if yo…

Could I put a carbureted motor in my '77 280 and disconnect the ECU and harness, leaving it in the car? Does the ECU control more than the engine?

I swapped my 74 260z auto over to a manual. Once completed It wont crank over, Starter was tested good and fires the car right up when 12v is applied to small terminal. I have 12v coming thru the splice where the neutral safety is bypassed. I only have 4v to the small terminal. It started fine when the auto was in it, my question is there anything else that needs bypassed for the swap or does anyone have a wiring diagram?
