Hey all. I put a 280z 5 speed into my 73 240z. Works and shifts fine. My problem is that when I put the plastic console on, the shift lever contacts the plastic of the console (front edge where meets base of leather shift boot). On the forward gears, and pushes the transmission out of those particular gears unless I keep my hand holding it in gear. I have read other posts regarding the earlier 240's and having to cut the transmission tunnel, which doesn't apply to me. I haven't seen anything regarding this particular issue and I'm not sure why I'm the only one having this problem. Right now I'm using the stock 5 speed shift lever with the console off, but was wondering…

I have a set of Tokico springs and struts for 280Z. I purchased these from a fellow at hybrid Z, and I am not going to use them. Parts are as follows: 2) 5022F Tokico springs. 2) 5022R Tokico springs 2) HZ3038 Tokico struts 2) HZ3013 Tokico struts These parts are used, but appear to be in good condition. I had these springs tested at a friend of mines race shop. The front springs tested at 198 pounds per inch, and the rears tested at 177 pounds per inch. I paid $300 for them a couple of months ago, make me an offer!

I read hours of internet stuff on oil pumps and never got the yes or no I wanted. A lot of people say M111 is the one to have for more oil pressure. I e-mailed a service tech at Melling and his reply to the difference in M111 & M152 was "The pumps use the same gerotor sets @1.570 thickness. They use different bypass springs. The M152 has a slightly higher bypass pressure. I bought the M152 from Advance for $45 after promo code.

I am sure it has been beaten to death, but I need to ask it," what do I need to do to put a L28 out of a 1977 280Z into my 1972 240Z?" My '72 has the factory L24 with the SU's, a 3-2 header with a cobbled up exhaust. I found a '77 280z car with it's fuel injected L28, manual trans drive train. My Z has a 5 speed manual currently. I would like to keep the fuel injection on the L28, what do I need to do? I am new to Z cars, I bought my first today, I like the idea of the larger displacement of the L28, I also like the reliability of fuel injection and ditching the SU carbs on my 240 sounds good. Please help, I am curious about wiring, fuel system, exhaust....clutch...…

Thought this might be of interest to some. Don't know how hard core you guys are about swapping things so hope this is not out of line. I put an SR20DET in my 240Z. I want it to not be real noticeable from the outside so I am keeping most everything stock looking(except for the 300hp and 30mpg thing). I wanted the gauges to remain stock but the tach wouldn't work with the SR. I found a 280Z tach and put it in the 240 housing. I used an MSD tach box to hook up the 280 tach. I also hooked up a stock SR tach for comparison purposes. I then matched the 280 tach to the SR tach at 3500rpm using the adjustable pot on the back of the 280 tach. It worked like a charm. I have a fr…

Does anyone know what Nissan-Datsun vehicles have this diff ratio? If I found an R-200 3.7 LSD I would use it, but those are rarer than rare...I want this particular final drive ratio, so I thought I'd ask the forum about locating a standard open diff version and if so, is it hard to find? Has anyone done it and what car did it come out of, Z or non-Z? Thanks for any clues

I am looking at buying a 1970 240z but it seems to be just above my price range. The owner has offered to throw in a bunch of miscellaneous parts for an extra $300 but since it is already at the tip of my price range i am a little hesitant. The parts included are an l26 engine block, 3 four speed trannys, an extra set of SU carbs as well as a set of 260 carbs and some half axles in addition to a bunch of little things (badges, electronics, etc.) My question is, how much is all this stuff worth and how hard would it be to sell? If I can sell it and make a decent profit it would bring the car down into my price range. Thanks in advance, Austin
