I have a 77 280z that has some bad rings in it. I just took the motor out of my 82 280zx that I am having scrapped. That motor was in perfect shape the body was just a wreck. I was thinking of using the motor and head out of the 280zx for my 280z. The 82 has the flat top pistons and a little extra compression couldn’t hurt. Does the exhaust head and intake manifold fit from the 77? What is better to use? From what I have read I don’t think I can use the head off of the 77 on the 82 motor. Anyone have any suggestions? Or should I just redo the rings on the original motor? Thanks in advance Curtis

Is the 1977 engine/EFI harness swappable into a 76 model? Are all connectors the same and have the same strands of wires? Is color coding the same? If not, can 75 harnesses be moved to a 76? Thanks!

Hi everyone! I'm new here so bear with me. What newer Nissan engines are possible to swap into the 240z if any. I've been thinking that the 300z and the Maxima engines should work. The reason for this is because I can find rebuilt engines for these cars but not for the 240z unless you know something I don't. If so, let me in.. If engine swap of the older 300z and Maxima engine if possible, what ones specifically and what else would need to be done to the car in order to make her run? Well, I guess that's enough blatently ignorant questions for now. See you later- I'm new to 240z's give me some time...

I have no idea what the stock mirror was, but my 1972 came with a bullet-style passenger side mirror. I've never been very happy with it because of its small size and laser-like reflection path. Part of my dissatisfaction is, of course, the fact that it has to be manually adjusted (remote mirror control and retractable seat belts about the only really, really, worthwhile advancements in the last 40 years -- in my book) but manual adjustment wouldn't be so bad if it had a field of view wider than a pinhole. I could get it adjusted to cover the blind spot, but if it were bumped or simply vibrated out of position a bit I couldn't tell it was no longer aimed at the blind s…

By chance does nayone have any info on if this is correct the f54 with the e31 will give you 10.8 to 1 compression? I have hear alot about other combos but I have access to both the head and bottom end <f54> for a good price will this work ok , I have a e36 intake and round tops from my 240 to finish it up , any with expierence good or bad , and is it as easy as i seems? hey all new to the forum, ihave a 260z w/ blown engine. i recently found a 79 280zx im going to buy. right now im having a f54 L28 n42 head being rebuilt. its getting .040 bore new bottom end (seals- bearings - rings- pistons-polished krank&balancing) replacing valve seats&guides -etc etc & a mild cam w/ rocker arms:classic: just wondering what it will take to put the rebuilt engine into the 280zx F/I i have all the stuff for carbs out of my 260z (round top SU s) im curious to hear from anyone who has done this if there are any problems w/ the swap or should i stay w/ the F/I on the new rebuild ( f54 L28 /n42) the zx has all power (windows-mirrors etc.) woul…

I've searched for the answer to this question and will continue to search but in case someone wants to help... here's the question. I have the civic fan installed. Now it's time to connect the wires. The civic wiring has a plug with two wires, blue with a black stripe and blue with a white stripe. Which one should I splice to the red 240Z fan motor wire and which one should I splice into the black 240Z fan motor wire? Looking at the civic fan plug, there are two + indicators at the plug which is confusing. The connectors are flat and at a right angle to one another. Question: What is the difference between the webbed ZX FI intake and the unwebbed 280 intake? Is the webbed one square port because the P90 is? If this is true, is the intake that came off 75-76 N42's also square? I have not seen a webbed intake on 75-76's, so does that mean there are three different N/A FI intake mani's? or 4? (square for n42, then round for n47, still round for P79 and then square again for P90?) steve77
