Anyone know if some of the parts from the sedan version will straight fit a coupe version? like transmission would like to get 5 speed tranny and other parts needed for the conversion. is the headlight surround, headlights & grill the same? I tried the chrome mouldings and they are different

A mate has just picked up a crashed Z32 from auction. Just wondering what parts would be good to grab off it for my 260Z 2-seater. Unfortunatly the motor is rooted and he's taking the gear box. Other than that it's pretty much all up for grabs. About the only bits I can think of would be brakes. Anything else?

I have a couple of specific questions regarding N-36 260Z manifolds and connecting the carbs in general. I recently got my hands on a nice set of N-36 Intakes and had them bead blasted. They look pretty nice. I also had a nice balance tube prepped at the same time. I went to connect my early 4 screw roundtops to them and noticed that the studs seem to be shorter. I couldn't get both the lock washer and washer on and barely could thread the nut on with just the washer. Is this normal? Were the insulators narrower on the 260Z's with flat-tops? Secondly, should there be a gasket on both the manifold and the carb sides of the insulator. In other words do I need four g…

Hi everyone I want to convert my auto tranny to 5 speed manual for my '75 240K (Skyline C110) coupe, and I called Z car workshop (brisbane Z workshop) as I heard I can just get parts from Z's and will bolt straight in as they are similar in some stuff, and the guy told me to just buy a manual car as it is a very difficult job.??? Anyone knows a place that will do this conversion? thanks

Hi Z-heads!! Got a pinging problem I hope you can help me with. My Brother-in-law rebuilt my '73 engine a year ago. GREAT....except for the pre-detonation!! It's worse when it's cold....then it's just bad on hard excelleration. It seems to disappear around 3500 RPMs. (Can't quite remember,as it's winter here and the car is in hibernation!!) We've played with the timing and even advancing it doesn't clear it up completely. Could we have gone a tooth or two out when putting on the timing chain? Would that cause this problem? My B-I-L doesn't think he messed that up, but I remember that the new sprockets didn't have the same line-up 'groove' as the original. Any ideas? Tha…

I found one thread on this (http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2983&highlight=z32+seats), but, unfortunately, it still doesn't answer the question. Has anyone swapped the seats from a Z32 to a 240Z, 280ZX or Z31? Or could someone tell me the bolt pattern on the Z32 seats (front-to-rear and side-to-side bolt hole measurements)? I broke down today and bought a '73 for parts. I have a $250 deductable and windshield to be replaced; my "new" 73 has a perfect windshield and for $300, I got it delivered. Has a very nice 13" GT type steering wheel with Nissan badge. I'm figuring it came from one of the 90-96 300Z's. (My 77 wheel is mush). Has 4 excellent condition black mesh BBS-style wheels w/ polished aluminum "rings". Have Z emblem on center cap. Bonnet is perfect. I've been wanting to replace my 77 vented w/ plain bonnet. my question is this, how hard is it to take the engine and fuel system out of a 76 280z and put it into a 240z...generaly speaking, I don't know if it will be worth the trouble or not, but I'd like the have the EFI with out the DEQ if you know what I mean. Parker

I have a friend that has an engine and 5 speed from a 1983 maxiam. Is this the same 5 speed that is in the 280ZX? He also has the complete rear end. Are any of these parts worth having?
