I know the early 260z had front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. I have a 240z parts car and a 260z I'm trying to get running. Would it be possible to swap the front discs to replace my rear drum brakes on the 260z? Or would that be a bad idea? Would that even work?

Has anyone done the rear disc conversion on their Z using the factory sized rims? I have american racing rims 14x7. I have heard that sometimes they rub on the rim.

I have just stumbled to the conclusion that early patrols may be running L series motors(definitely MQ, maybe G60) . Has anyone bothered to have a look at these 4wds as a parts donor. For all I know they could also have R200 diffs also. I'm just wondering whether patrols might be a good source of L6 parts. I've heard a few people have swapped V8s into their MQs so there might be some cheap motors out there that go unrecognized by the Z crowd. Also, did the MQ ever come out with a turbo charged diesel L motor. I seem to remember seeing one advertised as turbo diesel but I don't know whether it was an L motor or not. If so, would the turbo and manifold be any use to a petro…

I was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade the carbs on my 72 240z? I have stock ones, whatever they are I don't know. I could take a picture if theres a problem figuring them out. I want cheap, but descently better performance. I was thinking useing the SU carbs? What all do I need to swap them? I just put a new cap, rotor, wires and plugs on my car also. But I would like to upgrade to electronic ignition from the later 280z's instead of points. How can I go about doing this, what do I need? Also can I put a high performance coil on it also, what brand and where can I get it? And lastly, Brakes. They are in need of atleast new pads/shoes. I'v read alot about us…

I am researching the oft practised transplant of 2.8 engine into a 240z a project which I propose to do along with adding a 3.90 diff while I am at it. The plethora of information available on the subject originates principally from our Northern American cousins. The information I got from Brian Little's Datsun Garage says to obtain several parts from a 280Z, viz. the curved rear cross member, moustache bar, half shafts, drive shaft and front cross member. As I understand it this is because of the difference in size between the stock 240 diff and the R200. My question is this. As we did not have the 280z in Australia where can I source the parts I need for this project. I…

I have an L28 in my 240z, it was there when I bought it. I have no idea what it came out of. I'm curious as to what it came out of.. but since it's an Australian car I suspect it's out of a 280C, or maybe a 280ZX, we didn't have 280Z's Either way it has a F54 block and an N42 head. My main concern is if it is out of a 280C how does this effect the redline. What is the Red line on the 280C? Is it as high as the 240? Or have I been over revving my engine So I guess my question is what is the redline on a L28 with F54 block and N42 head? Thanks In Advance Ozlime240Z

Help please help. I am the original owner of a first 6-month 260Z and although it only has 40k original miles. I need new rubber everywhere. There are master kits for up to 73' and other kits from the last 6 month 260z on, but my question is do the bushings from the later 240 ie. 1973 fit? Bill
