After finding my original(?) radiator had been re-cored previously and in bad shape, I opted for an all aluminum radiator available on Ebay made in the PDRC. Got it in today and didn't look all that bad but Inoticed the Transmission Oil Cooler fittings were welded in place. They are appear to be male metric flare fittings. M14x2 I guess. Needless to say, they don't match what is there. A quick check of our local parts stores came up empty. I'm sure I'm not the first to face this. Any success stories out there?

Hi Guys. I'm in the process of stripping down my 71' 240Z for bodywork and paint and while I have the interior disassembled and dashboard out I wanted to replace my Heater Control Valve and Engine Side Heater Hoses. My question is if I disconnect the hoses from the engine is coolant going to come pouring out? Do I need to drain the radiator before I perform this task? I attached some pictures of my progress in breaking down the car. Looking to send it off on Monday to the body shop. Can't wait!!!

Howdy all; I have an engine from a 79-83 280zx, used for racing. Here are some basics on the build: o Bore: 86.75 mm (+.030â€) o Stroke: 79 mm (stock) o Compression: 11.9:1, or so the builder tells me o Camshaft: .560â€ lift at valve, 300 degrees duration o Valves: standard o Bearings: standard o Cylinder head is an “N42â€ from 1975-80 280zx The engine only has about 100 race miles on it but the plugs are fouled. They appear dark with and covered in soot. The plugs are NGK BP6E S. The motor runs very well, but I'm clearly not getting peak performance from it. I've checked the ignition cap and it has no cracks. The rotor is not fouled and is firing cleanly. All six…

I recently thought I wanted to do this conversion. I just ordered a Champion 2 row aluminum radiator with two electric fans. After more research and reading numerous threads on this subject, I have decided to not install the fans right away. I don't think all the fuss and wiring is worth the small hp gain, "if any", that I might get. I will install the radiator and keep the stock fan in place and see how it works out. I'm sure it will be fine. But, my question is this. Before I chose to start off without the electric fans, I had decided to go with a thermostat relay kit that uses a temp sending unit that directly reads the coolant temp. It's just like the temp sending uni…

I have the rear suspension apart on my '72. It has a R200 diff in it and factory half shafts. I did not get to drive the car very much prior to pulling everything apart. The half shafts need new boots which I plan on replacing but question is there a way to tell if the u-joints are bad? They are grease-able units which leads me to believe they have been replaced at some point in the cars life. If there is no way to bench test them should I replace them with some solid brute force joints for assurance or just pump them full of grease, drive the car, and go from there?

I know you got it but I just can't wait to share my experience. I had to remove that arm off the throttle body that holds the spring, it's a #6 allen bolt that holds the throttle body to the intake manifold - bottom right, so I could reach that bolt closet to thermostat housing. I had to put the horizontal shield on first then the vertical one. Sorry I didn't get this to you earlier.

Trying to do some searching on proper moustache position for the diff based on model years. There has been a lot of threads on the diff whine -especially with the early models with the r180 diff. I guess I have read that the moustache bar was actually was flipped around to pull the diff back to line up the halfshafts(make them more perpendicular to the diff) to help with diff noise. Looking at the 8/71 in my garage the halfshafts do angle a lot from the diff -BACK- to the axles. It would seem that if the bar was flipped the angle would be much closer to 90 degrees. On my car 9/71, I can't recall what was the stock position. I do have a r180(subaru r180) in my car and I s…

My car stalled in the pits while at the track this weekend. When I starting taking things apart to figure out the cause I was very surprised to find that the oil pump shaft was sheared at the distributor end. Turns out that the advance tabs in my Mallory Unilite distributor broke off and jammed the mechanism causing the distributor to seize. Anyone seen this before?
