Here is a question about an item not many will have experience with. Experienced engine builders please chime in! At the back of the block, the end of the drilled oil gallery has a plug inserted. Usually. The block I'm assembly at the moment came from the machine shop stripped, even this plug is removed. Good news, they supplied the replacement. Its a small round 3/8" dia. plug about 1/2 in long, with a 45 deg'ish chamfer on the end, over the last 1/8" or so. Clearly it just goes back in the hole. My question relates to how best to install that plug to ensure a decent seal. I'm pretty sure the chamfered end goes in first, but, then what? I know, I know, just pound it in…

Here in Denmark it is difficult to get a car through it's test (called Syn here) when any form of conversion has been made unless you have some form of documentation approving it. I am looking at a Datsun Fairlady which has a chevy V8 conversion (the original engine is gone) and I have spoken to my local testing station about it. For them to pass the car I need some documents from TUV or Datsun or perhaps someone else official. Any help here would be great :-)

Hey guys, my friend and I are working on his original 1972 240Z. So far so good, after 12 years of sitting it runs and there don't seem to be any terribly serious problems. Just a couple questions though: 1.) In the cooling system, there appears to be a non-stock pipe that runs through the intake manifolds, and at the left-most point of that pipe (the end towards the front of the car) it appears to be leaking, albeit at a very slow rate. We tried some aluma-seal stuff in the cooling and it seemed to help, and it doesn't seem to be causing a problem, but I'm wondering what its purpose is since I can't seem to find anything about it in the FSM. Is there a way to maybe …

Is this still obtainable somewhere? All I can find on the forum is this thread dated 2006 (http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?22563-Need-240Z-air-filter-housing-gasket). It looks like the P/N for the Air Filter Housing Gasket is 16547-E3210. NismoParts.com listed it as available, but sure enough I got an email from them today saying it wasn't available. Any help would be great. Thanks much, Bill

Guys, got Distributor problems :disappoin. I need to get a hold of a NEW or AS NEW 22100-E4603 or 22100-E4603RE. Contacted Nissan - (checked all USA dealerships) - NLA. Already have my Pertronix setup - just need a very worthy OEM Distributor to use as starting point. BTW, have plenty of used "cores" - I am looking for a really nice distributor and really desire to use OEM/REMAN. Any ideas? Thanks, David Jacks: Fort Worth, Texas 1972 240Z

Car keeps overheating on warm days (60+ degrees). It has the three speed auto so naturally it runs at 3600rpms going 70mph. It won't heat up if I stay at 55mph, but as soon as I speed up, it will over heat to 240-260 degrees. So: I suspected a stuck t-stat. Checked, t-stat was removed by previous owner. So what now? New water pump? The car has 80k original miles on the engine, so I am guessing it could be getting old and gunked up. Any other ideas? Oh yes, and should I reinstall the new t-stat I got, or leave it deleted?

Here's a weird one. I finished up my gas tank, and took the car down off the jack stands. Fired it up, put it in gear, and it wouldn't move, either in forward or reverse. It felt like I had forgotten to remove the wheel chocks, it was that stuck. I got out and looked around it and under it and saw nothing, so I got back in and put it in reverse and gently gave it enough gas that it chirped the left rear tire. I heard a slight popping sound from the right rear. Car wouldn't move, though. Shut it down and jacked it back up. Spun all four wheels by hand, they moved easily. Put it back down, started it and it drove fine. Jacked it back up and could see nothing unusu…

So I was nearing the end of the re-assembly on my complete rear end rebuild and one of the last tasks that I had to complete was to drain and re-fill my transmission. I had lost some fluid when I removed the drive shaft for refreshing so I wanted to just drain the old oil( not even sure the last time it had been done over the last 30 years) and replace it it new. Well as many owners have experienced, getting the fill plug out can be quite a chore. I tried just about everything I could find on the forum (barring removal of the transmission) but to no avail. Big and small pipe wrenches wouldn't budge it and it was really hard trying to get the wrench head on the plug in…

Greetings, I have a 78 Z and am refreshing the engine compartment. My overflow bottle has tarnished with age and I was wondering what others have done to clean it and brighten the plastic. Apparently, there are no NOS replacements available and I want to keep the bay as stock as possible, so don't want to replace with a generic version. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

I have a 73 that will hopefully be ready for a engine soon. I know what I want to do to the engine and wanted opinions from others who may have similar setups. I wont be running any smog equipment. My plan is to rebuild the engine. I'll have block and head cleaned by machine shop. Cam will be sent to Isky to be reground to stage 3. E88 Head(stock emission head..I know its not the best but its what I have) will have new valve seats, guides, outer springs, and refurbished rockers. Cylinders will be honed, not bored. Headers to a 2.5 inch exhaust with a muffler to be determined. Triple webers. Not sure on size of webers yet. Suggestions welcomed. Im thinking 40's run by an …

My 77 has just developed difficulty shiting into gears. (5 speed) It is classic signs of a failing slave cylinder except no leakage anywhere. The master is still full. Questions: Is this a simple pedal adjustment? If so, adjust closer to floor? Could the fluid be too old and broken down?
