My 8/71 240z has its original oil pan which is in good shape. I just got my hands on a early oil pan which is supposed to have more capacity. Is this true? I think I read somewhere they had issues with the oil pans

Hi I'm looking for some pictures which shows an original detailed engine compartment on a 240Z '73. I'm ahead to detail mine and then it's good to have some to copy from instead of guess how it should look.

Light turned green and got off the clutch very light and the car kinda choked but didn't stall. So I ran to 3k rpms and shifted to 2nd. Just driving easy. When I went to 2nd is when I noticed my trans or shifter (gear box?) Started to knock. Any ideas? Its a 77 280 4speed Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

Looking at getting a new water pump but I've heard getting one with a cast aluminum impeller is the way to go as it does not erode in the coolant. I checked rock auto but none of them specify which material the impeller is made of. Any recommendations on a pump?

I have a freshly built, SU carbureted, L-28 in my 72 240Z, with about 5,000 miles on the rebuild. The bottom end is a 280ZX block with stock dished (turbo) pistons. The head is an E-88 which has some port matching done, and the valves have been unshrouded. I'm running a stage II cam with total timing set at 34-36 degrees. I run a stock cast iron exhaust manifold connected to 2-1/2" pipes running through a glass pack type muffler. I ran a pair of "SB" profile needles in my SUs for a couple of dyno pulls to assess where I'm at. My goal was to build a very street-able engine, without having to worry about detonation. Of course, now I'm looking at potentially bumping power wi…

Hi Guys! Need a second opinion. Pulling my engine for the first time (77 280z). Front chain is mounted to the sligner, but the 6th exhaust cylinder bolt is sheared off so I can't use the back one. I saw that a few members have used ratchet straps so I got the 1000lb working rating strap and wrapped it around the bellhousing. Could you guys give this a second look before I pull the engine tomorrow? Where should the strap be connected to the leveler? Right now I have it through the rear next to the leveling drive but not sure if that is right. Should I wrap the strap around the bellhousing a few times? And is there anything else I should connect it to…

Found a local 280zx 5 speed trans out of a 1980 NA 280zx. Trans moves pretty easily through 1 to 5, but I can't get it into reverse. Still installed in car, but car is not operational so I can't test it. Owner has no history, picked it up as a parts car. Is there any safety device in the older Zs which would prevent the car from going into reverse like a collar or a sensor? Worth buying to rebuild knowing that reverse is currently not functioning or best to run away? Price is $100.

Hey guys it’s been a minute. soo my 77 280z has a glossy finish in the cylinder walls. Is this normal on a stock car or should there be cross hatching. I don’t want to build the bottom end.

Howdy, Going to do my rear struts and thought I should think about my half-shafts. Currently running the original half shafts that I have replaced the u-joints awhile ago. I have a spare set of half shafts, so wonder if I should find someone to rebuild my spare set or should I switch over to CV joint driveling? I guess two questions, which is a better option? IF I was to send out my half shafts to be rebuilt, where is a good place to duo that? Any advice is greatly appreciated Enjoy Bob
