Hello I have a 240z 70 vin 05820, so I have the type A, however I already changed 3 bushings and the pin, nothing changed, so in a post I read a guy who sais it was the fork, so I went on ebay and just typed "240z fork" and bought one looks like a "Y" (but sideways) but apparently it looks like something for the cluth, is this the right fork or are any other forks?. thank you very I am getting tyred of the sloopines and I want to keep the stock tranny.

Hi, so I own a 1973 240z with an l28 in it. I had a question as I I'll be changing the radiator soon. From my understanding a 280z radiator should fit generally alright in a 240z, and I am most likely going to get an aluminum radiator off ebay, as most seem to be ok. I would recore, but I am trying to shed some weight off the car. My question is that what will be better, a 280z 2-core, or 240z 3-core. I would get a 240z 2-core but those seem to not be for sale anymore. I was thinking of a 280z 2-core since I heard some people had trouble getting air through the 3-cores, and 280z 2-cores are available. I would highly prefer not to use an aftermarket fan. My other choice wo…

Ok i dont know is this a carb problem or what but feel free to move it in right section. It doesn't matter is it cold or warm weather but my 72 240z is hard to start. By hard i mean it takes time from 2-5 minutes and after it starts it barely stays alive until engine starts to warm up. And yes i use choke. Starter is sounds to be ok but is this problem fuel or ignition related? Also when engine is warmed properly it still has some issues with throttle. I drove few days ago around the block and when i give a little push it stalled but when i hit pedal to the metal it works like it should. Also sometimes while clutch engaged the rpms are quite high. for example if i driv…

I think I titled this right. I am in the process of a 5 year rebuild of a 1978 280z. Note this isn't a frame up rebuild rather I start and stop as life gets in the way. It will be a week end driver not show quality but will look good. The question I have is the engine. My father in law did most of the work as he was a 40 year ford mechanic. I had done some research and had the engine bored 30 over, we installed flat top pistons and then a mn47 head. There was some mild porting and polishing done to the head when it was rebuilt. After talking with a number of folks I'm told that the compression will 10.5 to 11:1. This to high as I'm not gonna run race gas and 93 o…

http://www.fennerdrives.com/high_performance_composite_vbelts/hpc_vbelts.asp?gclid=COut9fHnt6cCFYbb4AodHHOW_A I went to Grainger this morning to get maintenance parts for my shop compressors and they gave me a sampel of this new link belt material to try out, the Power twist plus. (link above) They claim longer belt and bearing life, among other things, so I figure, WTF, I'll try your free stuff, right? So being a tinkerer, I snaped the fluk meter around the power supply and started the motor with the old, but not badly worn belt. It read 7.65 amps at start up, and dropped to 5.25 amps at run. Then I put the PTP link belt on. A snap to install, literally, and it looks rea…

Was messing around the other night with Excel as I was trying to think of a way to track with any degree of certainty where I was at with various areas on the Z. At any rate I came up with several spreadsheets that tie in with the microfiche CD. (Plug for the Zcar club CD) Thought I'd throw one out here for all to see...feel free to use it if you think it will help you out. Also have several other spreadsheets made up dealing with various sections of the microfiche...(I.E - Front suspension (Fiche 90-1), Rear suspension (92-1), Fuel Tank (39-1), ...etc...etc) if anyone is interested I'll post the other spreadsheets. Just blank out the √ marks and any other info you might…

Hey All, I searched around here and could not find this information. There are a lot of threads referencing thermostat but not the part numbers. I am looking for the Nissan Part number for the Thermostat Kit. I have checked both the CD and the online catalogue at http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsuns30/DatsunFairladyZIndex/tabid/1543/Default.aspx But I cannot find the kit that comes with all the gaskets just the individual parts. I know courtesy Nissan sells the kit but I am ordering from NissanParts.cc as they have some other great deals on parts and do not want to pay for two sets of shipping. Anyone know the p/n for the kit? Also I know there are different temperature …

I'm in the process of having the head reworked and believe I should replace the head bolts when I reassemble. I have a 71 240 whith a L24 and E31 head. I am having new valves, seats, guides, seals and springs installed so as to allow the use of unleaded without issue but am having questions about the head bolts. Since I can't find the factory originals - what mfgr should I trust? and is this absolutley necessary? Thanks for any info avail. Eric

I own an 83 280zx 3 speed. I would like to do a five speed swap because I ejoy driving a manual car, I feel more ''connected'' with the car. The only thing that I'm afraid of is that my z will still ride at high rpms going down the highway. I travel 60 miles to work and back everday. My z at 70mph is at 3500 rpms.. A little to high for my taste. If I were to change over to a five speed, will the top end speed increase? Thus lowering my rpms ? Btw my car has stock tire size, not smaller diameter wheels. Any input will really be thankfull.

So I'm in the process of rebuilding the rear end of my 260Z (bushings, bearings, struts, etc) and now have everything removed including the differential (R180 as near as I can tell). While I have the differential out of the car, I am considering replacing all of the diff bearings since it has never been done before on this car and I felt that while I had it out it would be a good thing to do. Has anyone ever done this before and how challenging a task will this be? Are there special tools required to remove and install the new bearings? Am I asking for more trouble than it is worth? Thanks in advance for any recommendations. Mike.
