My L24 is going to be coming out for a rebuild soon, and will be dyno'ed when done if I can find a bellhousing seperate from the transmission. My stock 4 speed is all 1 unit. Did Nissan ever use a seperate bellhousing that will bolt to an L-series engine? Devin

Are there any internal diff? Outside i know there was a 2400 on the early z but is there any reason you cant swap all of the covers as you please?

After rebuilding the tranny I had bought, I finally got it and the "new" diff in the car and was able to take it out for a spin. My '73 feels like a different car. Gears are closer together, it is faster to shift and cruises on the highway. Yahoo! The combo is as follows: -'82 5 speed -3.70 diff w/ GM mount above and stock mount below. -4 speed shifter with 1.5" cut off. (this is about 3/8" longer below the pivot than the '82 shifter). Shifting is now more with the wrist than the arm. At 75 mph I'm loping along at about 2,800 rpm. This feels like a great upgrade for those of you contemplating it. I'm really looking forward to driving through the canyons.

It's great when my greater issues boil down to little annoyances So I'm wondering what's up with my clutch pedal. It's well greased and seems to move freely without binding. When I depress the pedal, it moves smoothly. If anything, I can hear the very faint sound of the return spring stretching out -- I suppose slipping in its mounting holes. Then when I let clutch pedal back out about half way, there's moderately loud click/pop that I can feel with my foot. I've spent some time with my head under the dash, trying to figure out the source of the pop, but I don't see anything. Is this a common problem? If so, what's its cause?

Hello everybody, I have a big problem which means backfire in the intake. I had it before i replace the timing chain, i have it after. New air mass meter, new distributor, new injectors, spark plugs etc. Starts and idle OK. The backfires are not always there. so what else can be? Any advice is more than appreciated. Thank you very much.

Are the 240z differential side flange shafts (with the center retaining bolt) 25, 27, or 29 spline? Thanks This picture is not the exact type as these show the C-clip retainer.

I just got my 5 speed into my '73 yesterday-looking forward to the new ratios. Anyway, the boot that protects the slave cylinder is shot. Does anyone have a lead on where to buy these? MSA sells them-complete with the entire slave cylinder. I'd rather not spend $40.00 for a piece of rubber. Thanks.

I've heard all kinds of horror stories about bad things happening to car engines after having the oil changed at a place like Jiffy Lube, such as installing the wrong oil filter, etc. I've never had my Z's oil changed at one of these places although I have used them with other cars due to the hassle of recycling the old oil. I used to change my own oil all the time years ago but have had my mechanic do it on the Z using OEM Nissan oil filters. However, I just discovered that AutoZone will recycle the old oil so now that I'm due for an oil change, I'm thinking about just doing it myself this weekend using Castrol 10-30W oil. I know they're available on ebay, etc but was h…
