Anyone have info with regard to turbocharging the 81-83 ZX normally aspirated motors vs. starting with the ZX turbo motor? From what I can see, the norm. aspirated motor for the 81-83 is an F54 block which is stronger (same as turbo), but it has flat tops. The turbo on the other hand has dished pistons. Is that the only difference in the block? Obviously the turbo has a P90 or P90a cylinder head and the non-turbo has a P79. Where am I going with all of this? With the modern capabilities of the electronic fuel injection systems we have today, can we bump up the compression ratio a bit by running the flat top ZX block and do "better" than the turbo ZX motor? How m…

Just curious, I've seen a few posts about upgrading to CV half shafts but haven't found any pictures. My car came with an R200 and the 4-bolt-flange U-joint shafts - are CV units something else?

I bought a 240Z Track Car, with a 280ZX turbo motor a couple of months back. It has the stock turbo oil pan in it. I was kind of surprised that it had a stock oil pan as a purpose built track car. Does the turbo pan have any type of baffles in it to keep the oil near the pick up? I tried a search, but could not find an answer. I have an AZ ZCar aluminum pan that I am thinking about putting on there. I have been pretty busy lately, so if the stock pan has some baffling in it, I might wait a while. thanks, Marty

I'm going to replace my front seal this weekend. The FSM is vague on this procedure. I took a look at the job last night and it looks like I need to do the following: 1. Remove radiator 2. Remove fan 3. Loosen pulley nut (put in 1st and engage the e-brake) 4. Remove alternator belt 5. Remove pulley with 6" puller 6. Remove seal 7. Clean surface and install new seal 8. Reassemble A few questions: - What'd I miss? - What is the torque spec for the idler nut? - Should I pack the seal in grease prior to installing? - I don't have a seal driver. What can be used in it's place? - How many beers should I have on hand? Any advice would be appreciated.

Ok, so I am making a daily driver out of an early 260 that has set for about 6-8 years but was in good shape (other than the engine) with reasonable mileage before it sat. The trans and diff were in good shape and worked well. I am rebuilding the engine because the head gasket blew but I am wondering what I need to do to the rest of the driveline. I'm thinking universals, front and rear seals and gaskets and new fluids, plus of course the clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing. Anything else?

Took the Z to work today to show a buddy my new console refurb. Well I went to lunch, it was such a nice day, I ate outside and just admired my Z from my table. After leaving I starter her up and drove up the light to head back to work. The car would no go into gear hardly at all, then I pumped the clutch again and noticed it was VERY light almost no resistance. A thought ran into my head.. "OH No! Slave cylinder, get this thing off the road, NOW" I managed to semi force it into gear with what little pressure in the clutch I had left and got it to a nearby strip mall parking lot. From there I knew I was in stuck. THe pedal was completely soft, and upon inspection o…
