ok so i have a 72 240z that i just swapped a rebuilt l26 into with 1971 round top su's the car is running awesome but something sorta weird is going on. the tube that comes out of the crank case to the pcv valve isn't exactly the same as on the l24 and their is a rubber line that went to it on the l24 that that is about the size as a vac advance hose that no longer has a place to hook up. it comes from the drivers side fender well. there is one hose coming in from the back of the car to a splitter and two coming out. the bottom one was never hooked up but the top one went to that crank case tube. now that this is not hooked up my breaks seem bad almost like the break boos…

^what the title says. I'm having my 1970 240z's engine rebuilt and everything in the engine compartment completely restored to factory. If anyone has a pictures of restored or perfectly original 1970 240z engine compartments, I'd appreciate it if someone could post some.

It's been awhile since I had to deal with this issue, so I thought I would throw out my plan and have you guys confirm my thinking. The car is an early '71. I currently have an '83 ZX motor and 5 spd in it. The flywheel is a 240mm from a 2+2 with a matching Nissan clutch. Auto adjust slave cylinder for the 5spd, with the ZX throwout bearing collar and fork. I am going to put the original L24 and 4 spd back in. I intend to put in the fly wheel, clutch, throwout bearing collar, fork and slave cyinder from the ZX set up. My understanding is that if you keep all of this the same, it will match up to either trans, correct? TIA, Marty

I was wondering if anyone out there has toyed with the idea of a copper intake/exhaust gasket? The factory and aftermarket gaskets seem to be either crap or one step above crap. I am considering having one produced and tested. The only problem I could possibly see would be the cost, but it would be worth it in the long run, especially for anyone running a modified Z. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Anyone ever had their throttle stick wide open? It's the second time it's happened......I suspect the thick rubber mats, but not sure......I can't make it stick when I try.......It'll really get your attention when it happens!!!

Hello This is a very basic, newbie question (I think): I have never done an oil change on a 240Z before, but have done plenty on Hondas. Hondas have an aluminum crush washer for the oil pan drain bolt. This is a one-time use washer that you replace each time you drain your oil. Do Datsun 240Z's have a similar washer that needs to be replaced? Thanks.

Been checking out my sons car some. I looked at the plugs/ Autolite 63 and the two middle plugs are rich. Outside four are ok. I noticed that the intake has shared runners on 1-2 and 5-6 and that 3-4 have their own runner. A PO has changed to Webers and elec. ign. But it looks like a stock coil/ still has a condenser, didn't see a resistor. This car is really coldblooded and you can tell it is trying to drop a cylinder at low rpm when not warmed up. If I keep it at 2000 rpm or so it smoothes out but not too good. No. 3 is actually a little wet. I haven't checked compression or timing yet. Just wondering if this intake design may be contributing to this. Or if I can lean …

Sorry for the dumb question, but.... I need to know which direction the brake booster check valve does. there's a litte arrow on the valve, but i still dont know for sure. if you blow into the valve...it obviously goes only one way. can't blow one direction and can easily blow/flow in the other. so which direction does the valve flow... air going "TO" engine or air going "AWAY" from the engine. Thanks a mil

I purchased some engine block paint from classic datsun motorsports. I was wondering if anybody else has used the same stuff because the color i have is almost a teal blue, and it doesnt resemble the original datsun blue color.

I have new Goodyear Upper and Lower Radiator hoses and a new Champion 3 core Alum Radiator to put into the 1972 Z. While I have the front apart I am wondering if it is worth putting in a new fan clutch. Autozone two blocks from the house can have a new Torqueflo in house in 2 days for $39.99. Has anyone used this brand? I know you get what you pay for, but this is reasonable and with a bit more than 170,000 on my original I know it could use replacing.
