Hey I have a 240z and I'm putting a L28 280z engine in it on saturday. Though I like that I have finally got an engine that will make my car run. I would someday like to put a 280zx turbo engine in it. Does anyone know what the 0-60 times and 1/4 times are for a 240z with a 280zx turbo in it? I have read that a 280zx turbo could do 0-60 in 7.0 sec, but i assume that with an engine from that in a car that weighs around 500lbs less would go faster.

About to pay a bunch for a cam from Kinetic Sunbelt (in GA). They came back to me with specs which are below. I've run a 490/290 in my 510 years ago (daily driver in college) which I liked... I've read some posts and tried to decipher what cam is really too radical. My car has an F-54 L-28 with flat tops, about 10 to 1 compression with E88 head (1 mm bigger intake valves). Switching from SU's with SM needles to a set of tripple 44phh Mikunis when I do the cam upgrade. So, is this cam going to be too radical? Can I still drive it to and from the track? It pretty much just sees autocross and track duty these days, but I don't trailer it. Intake Seat duration 320 de…

Ever since i bought my car i had always wondered what cam i have in it. Seems more powerful than any l28 i ever drove. zx motor in a 240. But there is a mechanical fuel pump. did 280 cams have the lobe? I am wondering if i have a 240 cam in my motor. Is it better for power or not as good as the 280 cam. Just wondering is all.

Ok, my 72' 240Z that used to race SCCA ITS is going back onto the road and I have to dump the welded rear end. I have a R180 that has a 4.3?? ratio out of the front of an 80 something pickup, does anyone have any experience with this ratio in a street/auto x car? I think I still would get plenty of highway speed while gaining quickness out of the tight corners. I have 4 other 180s and 1 200 I need to check yet if there is a particular ratio that comes recomended. Thanks in advance, Regular Joe

I know this has been discussed many times and I've read the archives, but I have a bit of a different need. Before our race, I want to replace the clutch in my 74.5 260Z LeMons car. I cannot spend much money due to the rules, so I can't simply get a Nissan clutch or other quality unit. That said I still need it to be decent. I have found lots of REALLY cheap clutch kits on ebay which is what I will probably be forced to use, but I don't know which to get. I have never had a 260 before and everything seems to be a hassle. Every kit is either for a 240 or a 280. Does anybody know if a late 260 is the same as a '75 280? Everything else on the car seems to be, but I co…

Well, my 240Z does not have the cat anymore nor the air pump(have been removed) and a 2.5 inches exhaust from the lower stock headers to the end (nice growl) and a resonator at the rear end.. Each time I drive the car, I have a bad smell in the car, like poisonous...exhaust fumes... My seals on the hatch in the back are ok, but I'm getting sick and having nausea driving the car... Not funny... Any tips? What about putting a double tip exhaust in the back curved upward? Would it help? See the pic of my exhaust on the far left.... So for the past month i've been trying to fix my 240z engine. It is the original L24 and it was seized up. I put some PB blaster into the cylinder walls then tried to turn the engine manually but nothing moved. The damage is a little more than I thought at first. Now I am looking to get a rebuilt engine. Normally, what is the price for a rebuilt L24;L26:L28 cost?

Started my engine for the first time since the rebuild! It sounds really good and throttle response is much better! The valves are a bit noisy, but I’m told that’s a function of the performance cam. Still, I expect it will quiet down a little bit after break-in. Prior to start-up, I lubricated the cam area and “spunâ€ the engine with the spark plugs out to distribute oil. It’s not yet all roses and rainbows though… It seems to have a pre-ignition problem and wants to keep running after turning-offf the ignition. When time permits, I need to check the timing, set the idle lower and may need to change-out the old mid-grade gas for premium. For the moment I c…

I've done a good amount of searching now and I haven't been able to come to a conclusion. I bought a Facet-Purolator electric fuel pump from ebay that was advertised at 2.75-4 psi. In my mind that was perfect for the Z car so I did a buy-it-now (at a killer price imo). Fast forward a couple days and the pump arrives only the packaging says 4-5.5 psi range. Still is brand new and made in the USA Ebay woes aside, would you feel compelled to run a pressure regulator with this pump? I have read 3-5 psi for our cars is ok (stock L24 with 4-screws). I understand it's not a bad idea to run an fpr but does anyone think it would be required in this case? Is half a psi rating any…

I just bought an L24 engine for a spare to build for my 73 240Z. The engine I bought has the vin number 187769. I thought this number was very high for an L24 engine. The engine also came with an automatic transmission as well. Would the auto trans have anything to do with the high vin number? Brad Richards
