Hi guys, can i hear from those of you that have installed a V8 (307,327,350etc) into there zed in terms of the way the car handles, specifically on the track. Does the weight of an old V8 drastically effect the handling? is there major understeer into corners? Also, does anyone have any comments about the engine mounts sold by Castlemain Rod Shop (Australia) to fit a V8 into the zed? Do these mounts position the engine far enough back? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I did a compression test on my 73 240z, stock engine, and all 6 cylinders read 112 - 117. This appears to be extremely low but I'm confused because all 6 are within a pretty tight tolerance. An oil test on one brought it up 10lbs and slightly less on the others. Does it sound like bad rings that happened to have worn symmetrically? Or am I making too much out of the close readings? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is there a good source to get all those different wire clamps for your Z? I keep de-rusting mine so they shine some, but they get rusty after it rains a few times. I was thinking anout zinc plating them. thxZ

Hey guys, it's looking like I might have to be buying some new clutch components--maybe just the pressure plate, maybe everything, etc. Problem is, I don't think I have the stock clutch in my '74 260 (only had it a couple months) since it has a 5-speed. Any idea of which 5-speed would be in there? Or which clutch components would be compatible? I just figure if I go buy the stuff for a '74 260, that it might end up being the wrong part.

...For years my Z seems to make a rattling sound somewhere in the engine bay. It usually happens whenever I floor it at high RPM's (approx. 4000 & above). Sometimes I'll see a cloud of white smoke too when I rev the motor high. I know the white smoke could be a sign of worn piston rings. What about the rattling? ....I also read some older threads about the rattling. I don't think my car is pinging, but perhaps the valves are out of adjustment? As for the white smoke, my head gasket is fine.

I have a 1975 280Z with a L28 engine... N42 head.. fuel injected. Everything on the car is stock as far as I can tell. I bought this car not too long ago. I found that there was oil on all six spark plugs. What would cause oil to be on the plugs.?? Worn piston rings or worn valve seals or guides or maybe high engine case pressure.?? Can high engine case pressure cause oil to go down the combustion chamber??? The reason I ask is because the oil pressure guage reading goes above the middle .. I wanted to do a compression test for all the cylinders but I don't know what results I should expect. Does anyone have any numbers you could throw at me in terms of what readin…

I had to swap the waterpump in one of my two '72 240 Zs. The new waterpump has two holes to the shaft, one to the top and one to the bottom (downwards). The old one had only one hole (downwards) and the pump in the other Z has no hole. What are the holes for? Grease, drain water or whaPlease let me know your explanation Thanks Rolf

O.K. I got the car started and running about two days ago. Started the car rolled of the trailer and into shop. Jacked it up to start on the clutch. found the slave cylinder was down. Install new slave and master cylinder. Bled system and tried to start, would not start. Checked and found fuel pump not coming on. Hook pump to a outside source pump works, good flow to fuel rails I did not have a way to check pressure, but the supply hose would get stiff(redneck I know) Next checked for spark, coil was firing and showed to have fire at plugs(checked the shade tree way, screwdriver). Checked the fuses. Started checking injectors would not flash a noid light. Both wires were show…

Hi all, I have a 260z with a worn out l26 motor, I got my hands on a l28 motor (f54 block p90a head solid lifters) Im going to use an E88 head that I have instead of the p90a, I have the motor stripped down, The block doesn't need to be rebored just honed and would like to keep it that why if possible. I was wondering is it possible to get standard size 86mm flat top pistons to increase my CR. This is my first rebuild so if anyone has anyother sugestions please feel free to advise me, Thanks, Jay.

I did a search but never found exactly what I was looking for. I have a 71 240 with a 280 engine. I want to put in a cam. My qusetion is how far can I go (stage I, II, III etc) before it affects drivability on the street or gas mileage. I want to maintain street ability, reliability, and not hurt gas mileage to any extent. The motor has 150-160K miles but is in good shape. I also want to do the occasional autocross event. At this time I am leaning twords the stage II can but want to learn more before buying a one.

L24 Stroker 1 2

Well, I am making head way to get my L24 stroked. Now my question is, which would be the best route to go. Which has the more potential for power? The L28 crank vs. the LD28 (or is it the LB28) diesel crank. I would imagine the diesel crank route would be more expensive, but I would think that I would be able to get a heck of a lot more torque out of it.

I have a 1983 280 all stock. The car was parked for about 6 years due to clutch failure. I now have the engine running and was going to replace clutch. I have not worked or owned a nissian befor and was wanting so input on clutches to buy or to stay away from. The car is stock and I see no plans to change anytime soon. I also plan on changing the input, and throw out bearing, slave cylinder and master cylinder. Thanks ahead of time for the help. I sure I will be asking alot of questions during getting this thing road ready again.
