I've got a 5-speed (FS5W71B) from a 280Z and I'm trying to get in to replace the front input shaft seal. I have removed the shift fork and all the bolts holding the front cover on. The cover won't budge! I didn't want to pry on it too much. Is there a secret to getting the cover off? Thanks

I am interested in finding out about experiences with short stroke L28s. I have just had an L28 built with a 2.4 crankshaft. The motor has been bored out to the first size overbore and flattops fitted. The block has been decked to bring the compression to 10.5 to 1. Everything has been balanced and blueprinted. The flywheel has has as much material as possible removed. I think it is about 2750cc. The head is an E88 with a lot of porting etc. A MSA stage 4 cam kit has been fitted. The engine has triple 40 DCOEs, headers and 3 inch exhaust and I have a 4.1 diff. My previous motor was similar but with maximum size pistons and completely worn out. I decided to stay…

What is your guys take on this? I might have the chance to pick up an 82' L28 engine for $300. Think that is a good price? I am going to be finding out more information sometime soon. Already emailed the guy. Just would like to see what is your guys take on an E31/L28 set up. It seems like the compression is way up there near 11:1 with a little searching. If I get this, is it really going to turn it into more of a unstreetable car or what? Would this be a better option then getting a Stage III cam on my L24? Would save me a few pennies. Though how would a cam do on an L28? The Z I am wanting to get to the point were it is my daily car, and I want it to be powerf…

I'm just about finished making my own Cold Air Intake for my 1975 280z. I used some Spectre tubing I got from Autozone and a K&N filter I got from Advance Auto Parts. I think it looks pretty good. I had to cut some of the tubing (which is plastic) in order for it to fit properly. It also took some boiling of the stock AFM rubber and soapy water in order to get it to fit. Here is a pic. I'm still working on a bracket in order for it to stay put. I'm thinking of strapping it down to where the stock airbox would latch onto. Not bad for $50 bucks. What do you think?

Can 280zx na half shafts be mod. to work in 240z? I have r200 3.90 lsd with disk brakes to swap parts into.... I know some say I need 280z shafts... but I have no time to search local for these shafts... althought maxima caliper brackets are simple to find local. I have not really looked closely at these shafts so maybe my question has simple answer.

Hey guys, I have a 1978 280z which I thought had the original motor in it. With help from this forum I found out the engine has been swapped, it now has a f54 block and a p79 head. My question is before I knew the motor had been swapped, I Bought NGK plugs B6ES-11, should I be running BP6ES-11 which I think is a projected plug. I am having a slight misfire at idle , will these plugs help since they are closer to the pistons? I am assuming this is what projected means. Wi

My 73 240z belches white smoke, only at high RPM. I've read enough threads here and else where to know that white exhaust can mean a blown head gasket but I don't see any water in the oil, no bubbles in the radiator when I applied pressure to each cylinder, and compression is between 140-150. I assume these tests are just backyard mechanic quickies and it still could be a blown head gasket. Are there some more likely culprits? Thanks for any help

Somebody formiliar with this engine from a Corvette C4 1990. It's injection controlled L-98 engine. It's the car from a friend of mine, and needs BIG maintenance. New exhaust system and so on, originil exhaust is all rotten. I'm asking to the Americans here, because i'm not formiliar with american engines. But working on it is now problem. What are the point i have to look after? I'm going to put the engine apart, because everything needs to be checked. Thanks!

Now, I am currently eye balling a Stage III cam. Now, can I have my current cam machined to the Stage III specs, or is that going the wrong direction?

Hi Guys, I went to check Brian Little's website to find info on the various speedo cogs. I recall someone saying lately that the link has changed, but could not find that post. I have recently acquired a 4.11 diff and need to change the cog in my '83 ZX 5spd to match it. Does anyone have the P/N? The new link to Brian's site would be great to have too. Thanks! Marty
