Hi, has anyone experiance with the el. water pump that MSA sells, esp. for a daily used car or long distance rallye events? Some people say the risk of an electric pump is too big. Thanks for any support Rolf

I've started pricing out all the parts I need to complete my resto. Things have gone pretty good so far, with the only surprise being needing floor pans. As far as the engine, I want something that can hold its own on a track, but still be streetable. I'm not using my numbers matching engine for this in case a rod decides to go through the side of the block some day. What I plan on using is an L24 with an E88. I know a performance build isn't just buy a bunch of parts and put them in. Everything must work together. So, where do I start?

My Zed ITS project inches along. Tonight, during the current lull in my paint prep work, I measured the runout in my newly-polished crankshaft. I rolled out the block in its engine stand, flipped it upside down, laid bearings in the front and back, applied lube, and carefully laid the crankshaft in. I got out my new dial indicator and magnetic base and, after a bit of fumbling figuring out how to set it up, measured the runout in the center journal of the crankshaft: .006 in. The Honsowetz book "How to Modify Your Nissan & Datsun OHC Engine" says the maximum runout (or warp) should be .001 in. Question 1: Is .006 really a problem or just not optimal? I will be pushin…

I have an L28 with an E31 head, it runs great. I would like to put tripple webbers on it down the road. I was told the E31 head is not the best combo. I was told however that an N42 head would be a better combo? I s this true?? I also currenlty have two N46 heads would those be something I should hang onto???

I am trying to swap out the original metal fan for a plastic one on my 71. I have several different clutches from cars that had plastic fans. My problem is that i am not clearing the third row pulley for the AC. The plastic fan needs to have another 1/4" clearance to clear the pulley. Seems that the height on all the clutches are the same -are they supposed to be? Or is the clutch for the plastic fan noticably taller or is there a spacer involved? Any help would be great.

So, basically the transmission sounds like a jet engine at idle. Is this normal with the 4-Speed? Could it be from not running for so long? Sunday I am going to put some new oil in it and the diff, which I hope will clear that noise right up.

For those of us who want to rebuild a T5 transmission, I found a good website that sells the different parts for it. They are located out of Las Vegas. http://www.drivetrain.com/borgwarnerT5.html Let me know what you think. Justin

It runs, but extremely bad. Popping noises from within the engine, carb closest to the cabin back fires and makes smoke in the engine bay. Black fuel smelling smoke out the rear. Now, I put on a new electric dizzy which I believe I have wired correctly as I have not been corrected here on the forums. Last night when we got everything hooked up and adjusting the dizzy, it seemed to be running fine, though it was a cold night. Got the dizzy lined up to the first marker on the pulley and called it good for now. Today, with the dizzy lined up to the first marker on the pulley it is running hard and making all kinds of noises that are not good. Now, I wouldn't have thoug…
