I am looking to build a high performance motor for street use to be installed in my 71 240 resto project. I am on the East Coast and am thinking of possibly building a stroker motor. What year and type of block/head would be best for this? I want to use the L28 and am considering triple webers, cam, etc. Any insights and advice would be much appreciated as well as some direction on where the best place to get said parts would be. Thanks in advance, Guy

I'm trying to find the name of this part and it's part number hopefully. It bolts onto the side of the Thermostat Housing on a 1977 280Z, (California Model if it makes a difference). Looks like a water inlet elbow like this one on Ebay for a 520 and 521 pickups. It's also shaped exactly this one right here. ~Z~

I am trying to find out where to get rings for the pistons in my '71 240Z. This is what is on the top of the pistons: RA 2517 020H TOP 0015 TJ These are dished pistons. PO said he thought the original owner had it rebuilt about 50,000 miles ago. Any ideas as to manufacturer and if they are oversized? Appreciate the help. I have not been able to find anything on the web searches I have done. -Bill-

I think I'm going to bypass the heater core in my 73. I know I'm in Massachusetts, but this is strictly going to be a sunny, Summer day car, so no need for heat. Plus I think the heater core may leak, so who needs it. I know this has sort of been covered, but I just want to make sure I don't screw anything up. So I'm just going to cap off the core lines coming through the firewall. Then I should just run a line from the back of the cylinder head to the radiator outlet on the passenger side of the block, right? I know a previous post that I found while searching talked about eliminating the outlet on the back of the cylinder head, but I can't see why I'd do that. Than…

Hey guys, since I'm definetely not a mechanic and I want to do an engine overhaul I was looking for advice on what should be replaced. Here's the specs on it, from what I know. 1974 L26 w/ 240Z carbs. (not sure of the year) everything else is stock. uhm replaced rear electric fuel pump and valve cover gasket and some random fuel hoses. Which reminds me, im planing to replace most of the fuel lines too, they've been sitting for 10yrs. Im not looking to upgrade anything, just get it back to running condition, since it's gonna be my tester motor. Im planning on swapping an RB26DETT in, just for planning info. So, back to the question. What should I replace? Pistons, rods, c…

Hello! Can anyone give me an idea of the approximate lifetime for a timing chain and/or timing chain tensioner for a 280Z. I just purchased one with 112,000 miles, and am wondering whether or not I should change the chain and tensioner, just to be safe. John 1978 280z

While in the process of removing the intake manifold to change my headgasket, I noticed this little pipe became disconnected. What is it, and does it look broken? I never "disconnected" it, it just came off. Is it for heating up the intake manifold or something like that? Picture HERE

I would like to fit a 6 bolt light flywheel to my L28 and found that it has 8 bolts. Yes I know that I should have checked first? Do all L28 motors have 8bolts connecting the flywheel to the crankshaft? I understood that there were supposed to be 6 like on the L26. Apart from the bolt patterns are there any other differences in the flywheels between the L24/26 and L28?

I'm thinking of next summer when the Z may see some more track and autoX time. The car has lived 37 years so far without an LSD, but a company called Phantom Grip advertises a bolt-in device for any differential that converts it to LSD...no special anything required. Do any of you know anything of this company or its product? Their reputation? Product performance? Thanks,
