I have been running 15-40HD Delo in all of my vehicles for years and have had very good results. However they are changing the formulation and it is now sold as 15-40LE. I am told that it will be without one of the additives that is really good for the cylinders and block. There is a limited amount of 15-40 formulations to choose from.My Napa guy says their 15-40 is made by Valvoline? I have run Castrol and Valvoline in the distant past and had good luck with them. I am very particular what I run in my 240, and imagine many of you are as well. When I find something that works well I stick with it. Any of you have any thoughts on a particular type of oil? Happy 4th of J…

Can anyone tell me what the difference in HP, torque, or just the overall difference in power is between an L26 with roundtops vs an L28 with roundtops? Both engines are stock except bolt on stuff( headers, exhaust)and the L28 is from a 76 with N42 heads. Thanks Chris.

Ok I have a 1977 280z 4 speed and I have developed a leak. I have a small but persistent leak where my driveshaft and transmission link up. According to Chilton's there is an oil seal on the back end of my 4 speed. How hard would it be to replace this seal without having to remove the transmission/engine. I got under the car and noticed that drive shaft bolts up to the yoke at the differential. Can I unbolt the shaft there and remove it from the transmission? If so how hard would it be to remove and put in a new seal? Thanks for all the help. 280z on its way to becoming a daily driver (I hope)

What is the difference in psi for a cold engine compared to a warm engine? I did a cold compression test on my 280Z 2+2(I haven't got my fuel system straightened out yet and was told it may have a dead cylinder) today and found 85-95 psi for all 6. Is this normal? Warm engines for a 280Z should be 170-180. How much more pressure will I get once I have my engine running and warm? :paranoid:

My L26 is in need of a rebuild so I bought an L28 from a 75 with 70k to use until Iam done with the L26. I am ditching the EFI and using my roundtops and was wondering if there is anything I should be aware of? The engine has the N42 head and from what I have read here it seems pretty cut and dry. The swap is being done by an experienced mechanic and I have the "how to book" and the Hastings book but thought I would ask the experts here for any advise. Thanks and Ill give an update after its all back together. Chris

Hey all. I have a spare 79 ZX engine that I would like to use the fuel rails off of. Reason being that my 77 has all the little rubber links that tend to crack in the heat and leak right onto my exhaust manifold. The 79 does not have this and they also shined up better. Will I see any problems if I do this? I wasn't sure if the fuel pressure regulator would be set the same of if there was some other difference in the rails I should be aware of before I do this.

Well while i was trying to install a new filler tube a screw fell into my gas tank. I was wondering if there was a possibility of it getting lodged somewhere where it would cause the fuel to stop. I really don't have the time or tools at my disposal to remove the screw from inside of it. I'm gonna try a magnet to see if i can fish it out.

I live near Macon but am looking for someone who knows what they're doing and can put a VLSD in the R200. Any idea how much this might cost?

So, I just got a 1976 datsun 280z, This is a project car for and I plan on taking pictures every step of the way to the full restoration! First and foremost, the engine won’t start, when I turn the key I can hear the starter go, but the thing just won’t turn over. On Monday when I turned the key the engine did turn over, run for about 2 seconds and stall. The guy I got it from said that the gas he put in the engine might have been contaminated with water and recommended putting rubbing alcohol in the tank to separate the water(don't know if he actually did this). Anyways, as of today the thing just won’t turn over at all so I decided to drain the tank. Ugh… I g…
