Hi, My name is Jim Jackon and I am new to the list. I own a 74 260z and I have an extra r 180(3.9ratio) and a quaife for it. I am looking for a race shop or any shop that has successful experience installing these. Hopefully in the northeast, however, I would ship if i know the shop is trustworthy. I just want it done right. I track the car enough and i do not want any whining or grinding. Is that to much to ask:classic: ? I hope not. Thanks, Jim J

...something other than the $10 typical cork replacements that seem to leak like a sieve after a month or two. Ideas?

I' ve had my 76 280Z for nearly thirty years and last week my radiator started leaking again. This radiator is my 6th one. I'm not buying generic radiators. I have tried Nissan, MSA, reputable radiator shops in town that have made custor ones to fit my Z. They don't get plugged up, they just start leaking at the seams top or bottom usually. Then I'll have them repaired two or three times and get another one. The car has never been wrecked. Are aluminum radiators stronger than a stock radiator? I hate to spend extra $$ that won't fix my problem. Thanks for any ideas.

Hey guys, I have a 72 240z that will not shift into reverse. I can shift into all four forward gears, but it will not shift into reverse. The clutch is disengaging properly and appears to be adjusted properly. It feels like something mechanical is not allowing me to shift. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Regards, Nathan Rolfe

I have an E31 head that has been rebuilt. Got it off EBay. It does not have mount points for the oil bar on the cam towers. They are solid, no holes. Has anyone seen this before on an E31 and should there be a concern? Is it possible they are from a newer head?

I'm looking for a radiator shroud for a 05/1972 240Z. I recall that the "later" ones are larger, as is the later radiator. (I'm running a "later" radiator right now until I swap back in the original unit which I have had re-cored.... It's to long, and hangs down several inches just begging a parking curb or rock to clobber it, and the bottom fitting exits without the upward bend.) The shrouds have not been popping up for sale as often as the did a year or two ago, but this one came up on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=005&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=150115262715&rd=1,1 It looks odd to me - or am I dre…

I filled out my taxes a few days ago, and I'm getting back $360, so I decided I'm finally going to pull my engine and have it rebuilt. For anyone who hasn't read my engine story, I spun a rod bearing in my original numbers matching engine which I figured out was due to a cracked head sometime later, and the sucker was seized. I couldn't afford to get the crank fixed, so the car sat until I found a guy on ebay that was giving away a L24 block. I jumped on the deal, bought a new head, and slapped the engine together. She ran once again, but the ebay block had bad oil control rings that the PO failed to tell me about, so she burns oil like crazy. After doing some thinki…

Hi there I was just searching ebay for 280Z and came across this auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-280Z-Engine-Trans-and-Computer-Rebuilt_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33615QQihZ009QQitemZ190106236610QQrdZ1#ebayphotohosting Thought it potentialy seemed like a decent deal for $200.00 + Not applicable to me as I live in Grenada so I can't exactly drive there to pick it up. If this post is not appropriate , I won't do it again was just thinking a Illinois cluber might benefit. everybody have a crappy day at work and a wonderful evening working on your Z Bloxman out

So I had been loosing coolant for some time, and I had tried a couple things to slow or stop the leaking. I had thought that the problem was in the radiator, but the more it leaked, the more clues I found to lead me to the actual problem-the water pump. When I replaced my belts several months ago, I had a heck of a time loosening the alternator enough to sway it; I ended up forcing the belt on, and it was the extra tightness on the pump that caused the problem. I pulled out the radiator which was easier than I thought, and disassembled the fan blade and water pump stuff. The pump I had purchased came with a gasket, but I applied a conservative amount of blue silicon to…
