http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=006&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=160102075563&rd=1,1 See my previous thread, "need opinions on switching to e-31" . I read the links about the seller, which seem a bit questionable. Note he IS now allowing folks to see his feedback. On the other hand i have emailed him some questions about the head. he has not responded. Also, MSA has no head gasket for E-31. Are they difficult to find?

Catching up on the Z-car to-do list I decided I better replace the 160 deg thermostat with the 180 I bought from Nissan. The rear bolt for the water neck loosened up fine but the front one was tight. I carefully turned it hoping, wishing it was just a little bit corroded and that everything would be alright. No. The bolt snapped off about 1.5 threads above the housing. I was able to remove the housing from the head. Now I need to know if I should heat the housing with a torch and try to use an EZ out. Or should I just punt and drop it off at the machine shop. What do the experts say? Thanks guys, Al

I bought a 76 280 that had been sitting for a while, When I went and looked at it I got it to run but with a miss. When I went to drag it home it ran worse. So after I got it home the next day I did a compresson test it has 130psi with one cylc at 135psi I put some old plugs I had laying around re-checked the firing order and plug wires and cap and rotor. When I started it ran on all 6 but the smoke was really bad when I drove it down the street. Now this could be from sitting for such a long time. Today I put my vacume gauge on the the motor and it held steady at 15 for this Alt. that is not bad. My thinking is the oil is coming from old valve seals. The exhaust does…

O.K. I am a little confussed and I am probably putting myself in that way for no good reason So I am trying t o decide what clutch will fit my Z best Now bear in Mind that I have a 1975 280Z that was supposed to have a L28 but now has a L24 . I also have a early five speed gearbox. I do not have the Turbo flywheel . So based on that anybody have any recomendations? By the way, I really like ebay stuff, makes life relatively easy as I am in Grenada. If anybody bought a clutch Kit on Ebay and you are pleased let me know. But its hard to shop when I 'm not sure what I'm liiking for. What information is more important the L24 or the gearbox or ____? Always appreciate all the…

I am finally nearing the time when the engine needs to be pulled. My question is what size engine stand do I/ should I get? Harbour Frieght has a 750 lb, 1000 lb. and 2000 lb capacity stand. I am thinking of the 1000lb but thought I should ask first. Thanks. Carl

Hi All, I bought a set of Trust/Greddy headers on ebay a while back. Seller said they were off an early L-engine Skyline. I never got around to test fitting them in my Zed so I'm not 100% sure if they'd fit, I'm now planning on selling them so don't want to falsely advertise them. I seem to recall that there are issues fitting Zed specific headers in to Skylines, but I don't know if the reverse is true. Any ideas folks? Cheers, Rob

I just bought a fan/alt V-Belt for my 73. The one they gave me is narrower than the one that came out. Maybe too narrow to drive the pulley properly I was given a 7335 (25/64" wide), I think a 9335 (1/2" wide) was what was in there and what might fit best. I called another car parts place and they also said a 7335 is specified. Anyone know what really belongs there? Many thanks! Al

Morning So the results are in from the back (firewall) to the front(radiater)?sp 150, 152, 170, 160, 155, 160 The plugs were black powdrery so too rich right across the board the fourth plug(160) was a trifle black and damp looking (just a little richer again ?) didn't look like oil (not that wet looking) So whats the general consensus on the compression Good Bad Indifferent In general I find the car to be a lot less powerful than I would expect. Anyhow , thats another matter we can sort out It may have to do with the gearbox /diff combination, and tire size. Regards Bloxman

I have another question. I would like to keep my stock radiator but its obviously over 30 years old. I have heard of boiling a radiator to clean it up but when I checked into it (at a place in Indianapolis) I was told that they may not want to boil it because in older radiators it could make things worse (ie. it may be better of in its current state). Its not in bad shape but it does have the usual corrosion when I look inside of it. Externally a good cleaning and new coat of paint would do the trick. And advice? This may sound weird but would soaking it/rinsing it with some of those calcium lime deposit cleaners work? Thanks. Carl

I am experiencing some throttle linkage issues with my triple Weber 42 DCOE's I am thinking that because my car was originally a EFI (1975) that perhaps the positioning of the arm and swiveling bracket that mounts on the firewall may be slightly different than say an earlier Z that originally came with carbs. I have tried a variety of configurations to get the arm to line up square and tidy to the Carbs , the only thing that works even remotely well , is to leave out one bolt to the firewall and move the whole mechanism to the second whole. works o.k. looks like sh#t. This is the only situation I can think of where being too stiff is not good. Sorry if that was in bad …
