I am looking at replacing my vacuum hoses in the near future and I ran across these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-280Z-280ZX-HiPer-Silicone-Vacuum-Hose-Kit-SILVER_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33553QQitemZ230098580264QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW I searched and the only thing I have been able to read is that these are not very resistant to gasoline. Any other ideas, opinions, rants? Thanks for the help.

I was talking to a guy that owns a 1989 Supra with a 1JZ. He was talking to me about maybe getting a lighter driveshaft. He said that they are about 11lbs lighter, and it would be like taking 200lbs off the car as the motor has less mass to rotate for the power to get to the wheels. Is there anything like this out for a 240z? A lighter, stronger driveshaft then what is currently out there?

I have my car almost ready to fire after a lot of headaches and learning never to trust a previous owner. I decided to do a quick compression test while im waiting for a distributer cap. 4 of the 6 cylinders were fine, in the 140-150 range. My problem was with cylinders 1 and 3. Now I did this test on a cold engine, and didnt put any oil in the cylinders. The thing that I found weird was I first tested #1 at 50 pounds. I went and did the rest of the cylinders, then retested #1 at 70 pounds. Did I mess up in how I tested the compression, or should I be looking at rebuilding the bottom end. Also, on another note, how important is priming these oil pumps. Will they s…

I'm going to shave .080 off a P90 and put it on my 75 L28. I'm looking for somewhere to get the shims to go under the cam bearing towers. Does anyone know where I should look. I live in San Diego CA. Thanks, Michael

Hi Guys, Pulling the engine out of my 73 Z and had a couple of questions. I guess first, would you recommend I remove the intake mainfold, carburetors, valve cover, and heads before I lift the engine out? I've seen pictures where people take off pretty much everything they can from the engine before pulling it but then the Haynes manual shows them pulling it with all of these things attached. Does it really matter? Second question. I want to pull the engine while leaving the tranny in place under the car. I was going to support the tranny and unbolt it from the engine prior to pulling it. The tranny is in good shape so I'd prefer not to have to pull it out. Does leaving i…

refering to the table shown on http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/cam/index.htm I noticed that the lift of the intake valve is higher than others on the E31/E88 camshaft. will it be a good idea to mount this camshaft on an L28/P90? or just go for MSA camshaft kit (if it is worth it)? I'm not looking for a big mess on the road with tune up. I just need a hot ride with unnoticelable power;) thanks guys.

Are any of the clutch master cylinders interchangable or atleast the resiviour on top? I'm replacing mine soon & I've seen some that the top actually screws on instead of just sliding in & I prefer that.

I finished putting my BWt-5 in my 71 last night . I thought I would share my install ideas as far as tranny crossmember and mount. The mount seems to be the same regardless of what tranny you have . I have the auto and the 4speed and the BW and they were all the same. The crossmembers are different though.I had two early crossmembers ,one from a 4 speed and one from my auto. The auto was much lighter and actually had an offset to it,which I needed since the trans didn't line up. I decided to grind a relief hole on the forward side of the mount so I could slide it forward on the trans. I cut off the ears of the mount and rewelded them rearward (3/4") to put them …

Hi, I went through the engine bay tonight figuring out what was what and found an interesting "mod" on my throttle linkage. See a pic: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/vlxer/DSC00179.jpg Why is the linkage slotted here? Should the washer be on the outside of the clevis? And why would someone feel inclined to stick a screw in the slot!? Second...can someone tell me what this component with a vacuum fitting is: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/vlxer/DSC00182.jpg As of now, it doesn't have a vacuum line running to it and I don't know what it is! Sorry for the beginner questions...thanks adam
